I had a good response from my service writer and the transmission tech at my dealer. I printed out and took in a copy of the TSB and they said they could start on it in 2 days, as he was just about to finish up another one. Took them 4 working days and he spelled out what he did exactly as the TSB specified. Did not cost anything and I got a loaner car.

That's not what anyone wants to deal with, especially not with a rig as solid as a Ranger. Makes you wonder about the build quality these days, right? I've heard mixed things about the 10-speed, some swear by it, others not so much. It's a shame reliability seems hit or miss. Have any of you looked into alternatives like maybe a 700r4 transmission for sale? Curious to hear your thoughts on whether it's worth sticking with the factory fix or going aftermarket. Let's pool our experiences here and see what we come up with!
First of all, why would anyone think about putting a GM transmission in our Rangers, much less a 4 speed?

I must be one of those that swears by my 10R80. Just turned 35K in mine today, need to do my oil change. Shifts smooth no issues, tow a 4K TT with it, love it. Just trying to decide when to do the PPE Pan and filter install. Still have a couple months left on my powertrain warranty. Do it now or wait?

There is only one transmission that I would even give a second thought to and that's a ZF8.

And even that would be just a pipe dream. The amount of things you'd need to change/reprogram to make it work would be way outside the realm of anyone except a very top tier aftermarket company.

start a youtube channel, get a million subscribers and millions of views on your videos, dump hundreds of thousands of your time, energy and money into the channel and maybe someone will give you one.

isn't that the new dream?

Update. 500 miles on the new transmission now including a couple of heavy tows and high temps. Has really smoothed out now and really have to pay attention on smooth roads to be able to detect shifts. Very pleased with the outcome. Have Lubeguard and a extractor pump ordered. Just debating whether to do it right away or wait and continue monitoring it. My thought process is that it’s new and updated and should be smooth here on out. But if I add the Lubeguard and it continues to be good I wouldn’t know if it’s because of the new transmission or the Lubeguard ?‍♂. Thoughts?

Update: Did the Lubeguard swap today with 650 miles on the new transmission. 4 heavy tows and it’s performing flawlessly. Very pleased with the outcome so far. Fluid swap went great, the only issue was feeding the suction hose past the Fitzstick fitting in the transmission. Had connected both hose’s to the pump before feeding it down the dipstick tube. After fussing with it for a few minutes I disconnected the suction hose from the pump and was able to feed it fully into the transmission.

Is it a BOT. All these new accounts that pop up and link to some random site are trying to drive traffic there. I reported two already just today. Did you guys think the account seriously recommending a steering wheel tray was real?

Is there any solid evidence it does anything? I've always thought most of these additives are snake oil. It's hard to find good info these days cause like I said...BOTS.

Sucked out 10oz . Probably about a minute. Just took enough out to substitute it with the 10oz Lubeguard bottle. The transmission is brand new so only 650 miles on the fluid.

Lots of good reports here on the forum. Company has been in business since 1984. I have used RevX oil additive in the past on my 2004 Colorado when it was having vvt issues and it eliminated them . Also had a ton of experience with the RevX at work servicing Ford 6.0L diesels with stiction issues. With the known valve body issues on the 10R80 I believe it’s money well spent.
