22 Lariat with 5k miles and hate how it shifts when cold. Worst transmission of any vehicle have ever owned. Glad I bought the extended warranty but may just dump it after this winter.

A Honda - does that mean a Ridgeline ? For me it would take at a min. 5x the issues you encountered to even begin thinking of being seen driving a Ridgeline. Hang in there, don't do something you may regret later.
Well Ford wanted $389 for a new camera plus labor. Just ordered a new aftermarket camera online for $89...we shall see...

I've been more fortunate than you but have been in for two drive shafts, both covered by Ford. And now have the engine bucking at low rpm's which they've ordered an EGR valve and something else for changing out when they arrive in this week. This will also be covered under the powertrain warranty but I'm getting towards that 60K limit with 57K on my odometer.

No doubt Ford has had a rash of warranty issues, recalls and problems that their CEO Jim Farley has been aware of and demanded they do better. A vehicle platform like the Ranger that had been in service for the previous 10 years overseas before coming to the US should not have this many problems.

Scott
Scott - I hope they cover your EGR under the powertrain. Mine went south, but wasn't covered under PTW because it is a "non-lubricated" part... Fortunately, I had the ESP. Regrettably, I am not technically savvy as there are forum posts on how to replace the EGR. I can't hammer a straight line. Good luck - I hope they cover it.

Wiggly front seat? That's a new one to me.
Look for TSB 22-2104. Don't know if there's a newer one, for a long time Ford updated it every year to add the current year (rather than fixing the actual problem).

"Some 2013-2018 c-max, 2013-2020 fusion/mkz, 2013-2022 escape, 2015-2018 focus, 2015-2019 mkc, 2015-2022 edge/f150/mustang, 2016-2018 mkx, 2016-2019 explorer, 2017-2022 f-super duty, 2018-2022 ecosport/expedition, 2019-2022 ranger/nautilus, 2021-2022 bronco/bronco sport/mustang mach-e, 2022 maverick vehicles may experience seat pan looseness, lateral movement, or a clunk/thump noise on turns. This may be due to the seat pan track. To correct the condition, follow the service procedure steps to install a reinforcement."

Note the problem goes back to 2013 and they brought out the new ranger with the same dodgy seats and then sold for years and simply updated the TSB to cover the new years. Then they brought out the new bronco and still didn't bother to solve the seat problem. Quality is not job 1.

This is one step up from coat hangers and duct tape...ironic Ford would come up with this low tech fix...
it's not the janky fix, it's that they've done it for a decade as a dealer TSB instead of just fixing it at the factory. that's just a lack of fucks to give at ford hq.

If you are so inclined you may want to search posts from tjc - I believe he added a product from Lubegard to the ATF that made a significant difference in shifting.

My 2021 is almost 4 years old (Dec 2020 build date), 44,000 miles. I love this truck now that all the below was taken care of. Mine shifts great (please don't jinx me).

I had one warranty issue (the HVAC blend door) that my extended warranty took care of. It is ridiculous that this type of repair even needed to be done though.

It had a bunch of low quality assembly related issues that I took care of myself:
  • Driveshaft spline joint was lubricated by me to fix the thump/bump on stop start. This small procedure that two dealers refused to do completed changed the way the truck felt (much nicer to drive)
  • The front bumper was crooked. I pulled the front body trim off and re-aligned the bumper
  • The brake pedal squeaked. Simple one time lube with lithium grease.

Other items I did that greatly enhanced the truck from meh to awesome:
  • Suspension and tire upgrades
  • Disabling the fake engine noise, and other minor things with Forscan
  • Installing the Auto start/stop eliminator (I have these in other cars, not a Ford specific annoyance).
Honestly, my truck in stock form, was only meh. It was one I would have traded in after a few years. After the above has all been done, I plan to keep this truck until it becomes too unreliable.

It's a shame that our experiences are so polarizing. This tells me, as a layman, that Ford is a merely a QC correction away from being great. If Farley had invested all of his battery factory money into Quality Control then Ford would be uttered in the same sentences as Lexus. There are Ford Trucks out there that will give a Lexus a serious run for its money in terms of dependability and maintenance costs. The problem is it's every odd one, not every one.

It's worth the investment, in my opinion.
Agreed. Maybe we should start doing Ford’s QC for them by telling anyone on the forum with recurring problems to trade in and try again lol. I’ve been good on two separate 5g’s both XL’s (the ones that they care about selling the least) A 2020 that got hailed on at 45k, the hail made the stereo head unit go out? And a 2021 that’s only had a u-joint get loose and need replaced, and also some stereo glitches. In my experience, Ford builds great trucks and horrible stereos.

I am using Lubeguard Platinum and firmly believe it does help. What also helps is proper fluid level. I often wander how many 5G trannies are over or under-filled due to the stupid factory dipstick. How many techs are going to go through the time and trouble to get the fluid temp up and risk burning their hand to properly check the fluid level. A Fitzstick is a must.

Some have complained of seat popping on turns, seat base moves side to side.
Ford issued a TSB, and this is the Fix.
Secure the Front Bar from movement with Heater Hose and Clamps as Base Replacement is a $850.00 dollar part, so a band-aid fix with $3.00 in parts

Good thing I've got both hose and hose clamps at work. I don't need to be spending no $3

Did you install the fitzstick yourself? I did an oil change recently and while under there was thinking of checking the ATF level but looked like a pia to check so put it off for another day. Lubegard makes good stuff, I think they sell base ATF fluid and one can roll their own additive package.

Yes, the Fitzstick is really straight forward to install. I think there is an install video on the website.
