Tailgate Damper……cons?

I really like how my truck’s tailgate slams open and how it closes.
I must have my tailgate arms for now probably. ?

The biggest benefit for me is when I have our travel trailer hooked up. When dropping the tailgate, it comes within about 2-3 inches of hitting the trailers electric tongue lift head. The damper allows the gate to drop slowly. Without it, should it slip, and if the truck were parked in a front end up situation, the tailgate would hit the lift head. It's also much easier to control the gate when hitched up and not being able to stand directly behind the latch.

I totally agree!

Lucky you, if you have 2-3 inches of clearance. I have maybe a half inch, and that is on level ground with the truck and trailer very straight. Any obvious angle or up hill slope and mine rubs or outright hits my jack.

We need to get an Apple air tag on him. I think @DukeCanBuildit can track him down and take care of that.

The only negative I have with my damper is that it's noisy when it's really cold. The slow in the cold part, I totally get, but the wailing like someone just ran over its dog part is a little much.

yeah and add to that the obvious correlation with malfunctioning ACC units, fuel in the oil, bad egr sensor, uneven tire wear, premature turbo failure, seized spark plugs, etc. Bad news all around, proceed at your own risk.
