I pledged my allegiance to the deezee cult long ago and still haven’t gotten my tshirt. What does a true believer need to do?
Here you go. I'll cover for Dave while he's living life. ;)

On the contrary....split. Many of us, myself included, rise at the first rays of the sun, and bow low toward Arizona where our Damper Dude, AZScorpion, lives.
I do this each and every day, unless rain, snow, or I wake up after the sun has already arisen.
Quote AZScorpion "Grumpaw Iiii AM your Faaarther", You don't know the power of the dark side!

My dealer installed the damper (free) prior to delivery. I noticed it right away and liked it until I installed tailgate seals.

I installed seals along the outside edge and the damper interfered.

Damper was removed and safely lost (stored) in a garage cabinet along with my SCab rear seat headrests and lower cushions.

You sir have been redeemed! The stain has been removed from your vehicle and your soul.
What you just described was one of the fitting issues I was referring to earlier. Seems its hard to have an easy tailgate AND no dust. Some kits can co-exist it appears.

I can confirm that at -42C the tailgate will not drop with the damper…. I had to pull it down with a decent amount of force to get it fully open.
Other that that, very happy to have it installed.
Yep that’s when your piss turns to icicles before hitting the ground only if you can find it..

Same with hood struts. Ford removed them because they aren't needed. Props never fail or bend aluminum hoods ?.
Sadly we never got gas struts, which would have been nice as ours are made of steel and are bloody heavy. Oh well as you say, props are reliable, and don't drop on you when you have your head stuck down in the bowels of the engine bay trying to retrieve that nut you just dropped!

HI DR8721,

Big Negative..... Today we were in a Flagstaff rain storm and we had returned from the store and I had a case of beer in the pickup box. So I headed out in the rain to get the case and I got hit with TWO rain drops more than I would have otherwise if I did not have this damn damper slowing me down.... Absolutely Unacceptable... Two rain drops... Just terrible.... :)

Best,
Phil
Sorry to hear that Phil, but rain in Arizona, if you got hit with two extra drops you must have used most of that storm up.

What the hell is -42C  we were camping down in Beechworth Victoria (Southern Australia) back in July, one night it dipped to -6C and we woke up in the morning to find the Ranger covered in ice. My wife thought she was dying of cold, and the Australian Alps ski fields just a little ~100 km to the east of us were closed because of blizzards. I can't imagine -42.

Ok so I know the tailgate damper is extremely popular but for me it’s take it or leave it I guess. I’ve not been in situation where I couldn’t just lower it by hand so it doesn’t slam. But hey it’s only like $40 so why not right? Before I get one I’d like to know if there’s anything any of you don’t like about it.

WOW still no Dave @AzScorpion yet. I have mine and it's good for me and I really like my T Shirt too but it's a little small for me. When I shop I put my groceries in the cab not bed just saying.
