I would call Ford. I had similar issues with the FordPass app and my 2019 Ranger after the update from 21194 to 23188. My FordPass Vehicle information was no longer updating (current vehicle location, odometer, distance to empty, tire pressure). I called Ford customer care and they ran me through numerous troubleshooting steps over about two hours. They had me remove the vehicle from FordPass, toggle off/on all the Sync FordPass Connect Connectivity Settings, and perform a Key cycle. After these steps, I was no longer able to toggle the FordPass Connect Connectivity Settings on. They had me drive around for a bit and then try again. Eventually, I was able to toggle the settings back on, but I was unable to add/activate my vehicle in FordPass (Activation Error). Eventually, I was able to activate the vehicle and the vehicle info was now updating. My initial problem was solved, but a new problem had arisen. The FordPass remote unlock, lock and engine start was no longer functioning. They had me drive around some more, but with no success. They said they had exhausted all troubleshooting and escalated my ticket to the engineering team. The next day the FordPass remote features started working again. When they called me back they indicated that there had been some other customer calls with similar issues that they are researching.

That sounds similar to what they refer to as a key cycle. They had me perform a key cycle using the following steps: turn vehicle off - open drivers door and lock door while door open - close door - wait two minutes - restart vehicle.

Thanks for both above procedures, but neither worked for me. I called the app number popping up, after lengthy unsuccessful assistant, said I needed a synch at dealer. I only use app to lock/unlock 2019 XLT, otherwise wouldn’t be concerned. Now I’ll need to buy a spare key, unless I get app working, if I don’t take spare from home.

Does the Ford app show vehicle location? If nothing works in the app, your modem in the truck (TCU) might need rebooting. You could try removing F9 in the BCM (fuse box under driver side dash) and reinstalling it. This will sometimes reboot the modem if it is not functional.

If the TCU is locked up, the serial number will be blank in the Sync screen.

I was continuing to piddle with my Ford App after trying yours and the other recommended procedures. All of a sudden something about battery popped up. Then updating. Then updating failed. Then start truck to complete. I did.
UODATE WORKED!!!!!!!
This was first time i updated since truck new in 12/19!!
Now if I lock myself out, I’m app unlocked!!
Plus I see the other stuff.
shoot, there s was even free Siri’s XM until June 1!!

i sure appreciate having smart Ranger friends!!

Why can’t Ford just leave things alone?! lol The app worked fine before, it was after I tried updating things I started having issues… All I need is lock/unlock and remote start. STOP UPDATING SOMETHING THAT WORKS!!!
It’s like the tech people where I work. Our programs and software work just fine but every few weeks they feel the need to update something, then everyone has issues logging in and can’t get things to work. LEAVE IT ALONE!!!

The good news is that 23188 will be the last update for the 5G , unless there is something major that must be pushed out.

Just an FYI, 3.4.26057 is out. Don't know if Ford is pushing it out yet but is available on Cyanlabs through Syn3 Updater. Haven't tried it myself. 23188 works fine for me.

Personally I'd wait a little while before updating. The current version is working fine unlike the last update which fixed a corrupted one. Lately it seems companies are putting out updates that aren't fully tested using us at their beta testers. I know when my phone has an update I usually wait a couple weeks and sometimes there's another update to fix the newest one within a week or two.

Yeah, definitely not gonna volunteer quite yet. my headunit is mostly running with no issues, other than the annoying AM radio thing. LOL

It appears it is a legitimate update - tied to APIM (overheat) issues and the recent MAP update, Ford servers however have not been updated to show the new Sync update - they do however show the new MAP Update - The MAP update appears to be the main push for the Sync update and the integration of it into Sync
