My fault, I know. Since I bought the truck and reading horror stories about dealerships, I've been doing my own oil changes without issues.
Been busy and tired from work that by the weekend I dont want to do anything. So I took it to a local OilStop service to change my oil and filter. They use Chevron oil.
Long story short, th kid put the damn filter on too tight and or didn't oil the filter when putting it on.
Went to Autozone with my new Motorcraft filter to make sure the filter wrench I buy is right size. Went to take off the old one, they used a different sized filter on the truck!! ?
Went back to Autozone and bought a smaller size filter cap wrench AND an adjustable one. Both new cap wrenches didn't fit ?????
I searched online and found other people couldn't find the correct size to the same filter. Either too big or small.
Tip - After trying a rag, I used blue masking tape. I taped around 3/4 of the filter. Put layers of tape and tested the fit. Put the cap wrench on and it was snug a/f. Used my long socket adapter and slowly turned it back and forth, it came loose!! ?
Hand tight, never had a problem when replacing. Just thought I'd share in case anyone out there has the same problem! ?
