There's two popular ways to disable auto start stop on the F-150, so these may work on the Ranger as well.

1) Reprogram using Forscan and change the values in the address string (BCM module - 726-48-02 / x0xx/xxxx/xxxx) for 'auto start/stop' will permanently disable this feature. Equipment needed: Laptop, a OBDII WIFI adapter, Forscan program

2) Plug in a trailer brake light tester that costs just a few bucks. It makes the computer system believe you have a trailer attached, which disables auto start stop.

Here's videos on each method:

I followed the instructions for Option 1 and it worked like a charm! The only thing is that I cannot activate the Auto Start/Stop once it is set to all zeros (from 0100 to 0000); ASS is disabled until I go back into ForScan. I don't miss it and I don't plan on re-enabling it!

Drive in S mode, it disables AS/S
The simplest thing to do period. I ran across this by accident and now I find it here as well. My 2019 occasionally seems to stutter coming to a stop and I don't know if that's the D mode downshifting or if it's related to the start/stop function. What I DO know is that using S mode solves it, plus it makes the truck more responsive. If I"m not doing start stop driving, I do use D mode. It's free, simple and works.

Turn on the defroster. I've yet to have the auto stop/start kick in with the defrost turned on. I always keep the defrost on at level 1, when the windows are up, anyway.

Ive had mine work with the defrost on. I have had the truck for two weeks and dont think ive shut the defrost off and its shut off several times. Will test some more.

I spent a few days acquainting myself with Forscan coding, $40 on a Forscan cable, 20 minutes in the Ranger and the auto start/stop is gone...

Along with that, I added many many cool features...why are you guys spending money on a hardware for this fix?

This is definitely the way to go. Although I only spent $20 on my cable. Havent noticed any change in mpg’s either.

I think if you turn it off in FORscan, the button feature is inoperable. At least that was my takeaway from it. I, personally, have no issues with AS/S so I just leave it be.

Because we don't know anything about Forscan and we're afraid of it? I'm pretty sure I'd plug it in, mess around and turn my truck's computer into a brick. :D At least, I'm not going to be inspired to learn how to work Forscan until one of the Forscan guys learns how to disable fake engine sound.

If I can do it, you sure the hell can do it...especially since you understand this lol...

You walk me through how to build that system you're working on and I'll help you with Forscan...that I didn't know anything about until last week

I have trained myself to turn it off right after fastening my seat belt. Not the best scenario, but it's working so far.
