I have watched the video.and I cannot get the. Console tray/top to come free. Is there some thing I am missing or did some of you find another way to gain access besides taking half the lower dash out.

Thanks

George

Did you pull both side panels (Left) Side is to the right of the Fuse Access panel and the (Right) is the panel to the left of the glovebox.
Once those are off, you can see 2 screws on each side of the center panel that holds the Power-Points.
Pull that center panel and then you will have access to the center console panel with the switches.
Gently pry it up,
The center panel installs over the top of the panel you are trying to remove, and it wedges it down so it's in your way

Thanks for the reply airlinetech. I didn't want to the removal side panels. The quick way pulls the console top top up from the armrest. Doing what are you are saying concerns me about damaging or lossing some of the clips holding those panels in.

I just pried up on the plastic switch panel up near the center armrest area. I didn't remove any other panels.

See this video:
I did exactly the same when I added the auto stop start eliminator and the Terrain Management knob switch. Took 15 minutes. Invest in a plastic upholstery toolset. It is inexpensive and that with painter tape prevents marring of the interior parts.

There are easier, cheaper ways to eliminate AS/S. Plug in a cheap night light or old useless phone charger with the cord cut off into the AC outlet. Done, and easily reversible.

George, I used the alternate method in the link below from the manufacturer and it worked really well for me. No damage or clip issues...:)

I did it this way also, pretty quick install. A few scratches on my hand trying to get the cable harness off and on again, but otherwise went well.

Some people want a more OEM solution, but having something draw power from the outlet will disable the AS/S.

This is the way. Get some plastic tools off Amazon, go slow, pry gently, work your way around and find the clips. Pry near them, not farther from them.

The folks suggesting the plugs neglect to realize you've already made a decision about how to disable AS/S and purchased the dongle, I assume, or you wouldn't be trying to pull the panel up already.

So we're kinda beyond "stick an outlet in the rear plug" if he's committed funds. Besides, not everyone wants a nightlight in their rear outlet.

To each their own, like the damn dampers.

Ed,
I liked this method too, gave me a chance to learn how the panels came off and see what's behind them. I wear between L & XL size gloves and have the same problem scratching my hands when getting into tight places.

Rich,
Right on. I got these panel removal tools from Amazon and they were helpful when I needed to get to the hood latch and adjust it after installing the Bugflector II.

Here's another option for anyone else that wants an OEM solution without disabling the center console. Just plug and play the Eliminator to the back side of the OBD port and you're done. This just recognizes the last position the A/S/S switch was in so you can disable it or enable it anytime. It should've come from the factory like this.

They also have a horn honk eliminator too for that annoying double honk when you exit your truck while it's running. But you can do the same by just closing the door to the first click.

There's an instal video in the link showing how easy it is to instal and how it works.

A nightlight plugged into the outlet on the rear of the center console defeats the auto start/stop function. The battery management system senses the nominal power draw and doesn’t allow start/stop to work. I plugged the attached in over three years ago and haven’t thought about start/stop or the light since.

You beat me to it. The install only takes a couple of seconds.
