Polar Bear: Just for the record, the Lima L4 is a 140.4 CI, or just over an exact 2.3 Liter. The 2.3 in the Ranger, is just under 140 CI. More significantly, the L/R ratio is different, hence the somewhat higher peak torque in the newer version.
I know there are guys pushing the new L4 upwards of 400 HP on E85 on the stock block and head. The Lima L4, using a big valve head and roller cam, can do about 500 HP on pump gas, using a dead-stock block and crank. Add in a dual OHC Volvo head, and you can add another 125 HP.
Just goes to show you, Ford can build a decent, high power, 4-holer!
