Skid Plate Options

So I've been trying to figure out what options we have to skid plates for our Rangers, and I know that they're new to the market plus the volatility due to the pandemic, but figuring out what options we have has been a bear. So I have compiled all of the options I could find into this post with some basic information. I've set it as a wiki post so others can add ones they find if there are any.

I have been looking at several skids (Hooligan, Shrockworks, ARB). The Hooligan is taking the lead for me simply because it has the fuel tank skid plate. It's the only one I can find. Does anyone else offer a fuel tank skid plate?

I think the 589 skid for $350 is just the front skid. They offer other ones too though.

Yup! I updated the main post with that. $850 for a "full set" from them.

I am hoping the border eventually opens and I'll be road tripping the US for a few months. Hit some iconic trails, lots of camping, kayaking and will also arrange some skid plate work and other work at a few shops along the route.

Interesting. I asked them about it earlier this year, and was told the page was a placeholder, and they had no plans to sell this part.

I've used the ARB Skidplate system on a stock-ish height '21 XL (slightly larger tires for a 1" lift). You do get a slight clearance reduction, but boy have I beat the sh*t out of those plates. If you're going with the ARB system, the instructions suck. Look around on the forum for the Install guide with pretty pictures

I've used the ARB Skidplate system on a stock-ish height '21 XL (slightly larger tires for a 1" lift). You do get a slight clearance reduction, but boy have I beat the sh*t out of those plates. Once you know how to install it, it's really easy. There are 3 additional bolts over the OE skid plate. It would take, maybe an extra 2 minutes to remove that OE.

When I have to do my first oil change on the truck I'll be doing a youtube install guide on the Ranger ARB Skid plate so others don't have to suffer and feel stupid like I did while trying to install that contraption. I'll post a link on the forum for it when I get around to it.

I have the 589, and it does have access to the engine drain plug. No “panel” to remove, it’s an access hole.

Should be noted that the Hoonigan skid plate kit includes a fuel tank skid.
