When I picked up my new Ranger last week...the Sirius Radio was already working. Did my Dealer activate it? How long is this "plan", the radio operational as I signed up for nothing???? While I like the channels; I do not drive that much and hate the fact that Sirius radio "voids out" in certain conditions. I wish I still had a CD player for those long drives!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have purchased 5 new cars that came with a Sirus trial and it was always activated when I took delivery.

Better than a CD player just take your CDs and rip them to MP3s on your computer and copy to a USB drive and plug it into one of the ports in your Ranger. I have close to 100 hours of continuous music on a USB drive in my truck.

I'm enjoying Sirius so far and even though I consider it a luxury I feel like buying in to a subscription. All of the local FM stations where I live are terrible, full of advertisements or pushing medical advice (vaccines). XM has been a nice feature of the truck

I've got the "mostly music" on my Jeep at approx. 16 bucks a month. That's all I need.

I canceled XM/Sirius on the wife's car last month. I told them the little fib (I had to repent later) :) ) that I was selling the car. They couldn't say anything after that. I did tell them to leave the free Travel Link, and they gave me no troubles about that.
I have the iTunes Music app, which gives me access to 74 million tunes and podcasts, plus my iTunes library. I've never subscribed to Sirius or XM (before the merger). I couldn't wrap my head around paying for the same genres of programming that are already broadcast for free. I've got inlaws who are stuck on Elvis and 50's Country & Western.
...."Alexa!, play 'Surrender.'" "Okay, here's 'Surrender' for the sixth time today..."

I feel like before the merger xm actually had some stations with decently curated playlists. Now, it's all just algorithm-generated repetitive crap. Or maybe that's just nostalgia talking, it's not like I clearly remember what was playing 15+ years ago.

the misery with cancellation / auto renew is one reason why I wont renew even with the $5.99 price, last renewal was about $300 a year and the "online option" they have added is chat........ thought Id give it a go---- it took me 30 minutes of repeating "cancel my subscription at the end of the current term, DO not renew" to four different people on chat and finally by phone to get it cancelled. I like the service for around 90 bucks a year but they insist on auto renewal with a credit card on file Hoping to wear you down enough to accept the tripled price or that you are one of the few that will pay the bill without noticing ..... . stupid stupid way to do business im on the free preview for another week and I do like it but its just not worth the stupidity I know will come in a year when the 12 months at 5.99 + taxes etc. runs out

Don’t chat with these idiots, talk to someone and ask for a manager.
The chat clowns are only there to renew, once they’ve gone so far you’ll be required to call. At least that was my experience.

I have three vehicles. The wife's Jeep Rubicon has a SiriusXM subscription. With the one subscription, you get the free Sirius app. You can play the app via Bluetooth on almost any other vehicle. I use the app to listen to Sat radio in my Ranger and Mustang. Used the app this weekend in my brother's CR-V on a long road trip. For the price of one subscription, you can listen in an unlimited number of different vehicles. Just saying ....

Does the free app default to a premium upgrade at the end of the subscription period?

The subscriptions have expired in both the Ranger and Mustang, and the app works fine in each vehicle with full access to all the Sirius stations and extra features.

I don't have any use for another paid subscription when the truck has Android Auto . I just ask it to play one of my Youtube playlist .

Ya know, these are just lower income folks and young adults trying to make an honest living. They're trained to not let everyone escalate to a manager and when you do that (successfully) you're just getting them in trouble with the boss. Corporate call centers suck!

as long as they insist on the auto renewal for the "current price" and dont let you cancel without dealing with 45 minutes of back and forth with the call center -- podcasts and the internet are a better value for me. I miss it some but there are just to many other options out there to put up with the SXM abuse ... I dont need em

I've had Sirius or XM in my cars since they became a company. I really enjoy it and my musical taste is all over the place! Everything except country! LOL. Just have to call Sirius once a year and argue about the price to get a better deal.
