Hello all,

Last night the gf brute forced the seatbelt and got it stuck some how. How do I un-do this? I have tried and tried tugging on it opposite ways to try and get it straightened but I’ve never seen a clasp so tight with no wiggle room..

Warm regards,
Brandon

I did that years ago and it can be done. I fixed it without help but It would be really great with a second pair of hands trying to hold the belt flat while you are brute forcing the buckle down over it or up over it.
On a sidenote, I'm very curious if that's covered under Ford safety restraint warranty. It's not like you did it on purpose. GF couldn't see what was happening as she tried to buckle up. Can't wait to see how this pans out for you. Of course you could always replace the tailgate damper and see if that helps.

Thanks for the suggestion Nick. I think I am going to try all the solutions here and if I give it an hour or two and I fail then dealership it is. Hopefully they don’t charge me to fix it.

Hahaha. See, my damper sits in a box. And I actually have no idea where that box is. I sort of was lazy to install it ?

I've had one side fold over but not both at the same time...force will not fix this...you need to inch one side at a time while making small moves...impossible to describe...

I have tried what you mentioned. Slight cm, I get it pretty close to fixing but it always gets stuck at the last bit to flip over. I shall try again with some type of lube or rubbing alcohol to dampen it so it’s not as fluffy.

A stout plastic tool like a harbor freight trim removal tool or this Tupperware orange peeler $7 amazon.. small enough to wedge in between the buckle and belt in small amounts yet strong enough to push and pry with? Wet the belt with water etc as a lubricant. Don't wanna use a strong chemical that may degrade the fibers. Can you use a pair of needle nose or wide nosed vice grips to hold onto the female part of the buckle as leverage to pull on the belt with the attached or other tools?

On a side note I always either pulled and locked or fully extended the belt and two handed it and used my body weight to man handle it

These are all great suggestions….use alcohol and lube and wiggle it and grab the female part with pliers and if that doesn’t work, use brute strength. ?

I've done this before. I would not use any lubricant but only brute force while holding the belt flat and wiggling it at the same time. Come on over and I'll fix it for you ?
