So, as I have been posting, electrical gremlins have been making appearances for over 2 years. Today, driving on highway in the aftermath of an ice storm and snow, EVERYTHING shut down except the truck with a charging system error displayed. I'm done playing Kramer, you know the test drive where he wanted to see how far below empty he could drive. So, I'll be buying a battery and installing myself. No fancy things, just a couple of wrenches. Once complete, I know there is a secret handshake I have to do, other than that, any thoughts?

I didnt even do the handshake.
Popped one out and immediately popped new one in.
No issues so far.

That I'm aware of 😉

The only thing that might need to be reset is the drivers auto window up/down.

Here's another thread showing how to reset the BMS. Looks easy enough to do and I'd probably just reset it.

1. Turn key on but don't start
2. Flash high beam headlights 5 times.
3. Hit brakes 3 times
4. Watch for battery light to start flashing

I’m pretty sure I did the reset with the headlights and brakes like Dave posted. Everything has been good for the past 16 months. I got a battery at Walmart since it was substantially cheaper than anywhere else.

Got mine at Costco for the same reason.
I've always bought my batteries at Costco but they've changed their warranty. Now they are pro rated for 36 months where before you could return it anywhere within that timeframe and they'd give you a new one no question asked. They're still a good deal, and Interstate batteries are really good, just make sure you're aware of the warranty changes.

I had Batteries + Bulbs replace mine and there was a $99 “registration fee” that I got sucked into cause they said ”some stuff may not work” if you don’t do this registration. I left them do it but not sure what it did besides drain my wallet…

Sounds like a BMS reset fee - shenanigans!

Fitting battery and cables was a pita.
Had trickle charger hooked up to cables, no issues with replacement odyssey. OEM ford on trickle charger on hurricane backup generator.

The battery I purchased was not an "exact" fit so the blanket that surrounded the original battery did not fit my new battery. It was a cold day when I did the swap so I didn't take the time to cut the blanket so it would sort of fit the new battery. I've since read that the blanket actually does help in super cold weather, but I can tell you after a year and many below zero degree F nights, my blanket-less battery still works fine.

Went to my local auto parts store. They installed the battery and no problems at all
