I'm still stewing about how much money I've sunk into my Ranger to fix post-warranty quality problems. I'm thinking Ford will need to give me a no-cost 100,000 mile warranty to get me back as a customer. (secretly hoping Ford watches these forum posts)
The battery I purchased was not an "exact" fit so the blanket that surrounded the original battery did not fit my new battery. It was a cold day when I did the swap so I didn't take the time to cut the blanket so it would sort of fit the new battery. I've since read that the blanket actually...
You bet. I had these clicking noises from inside the dash, after I shut off the vehicle, about two years ago. In addition, it seemed when I changed from hot to cold (or back), the vent system would take several minutes to respond. Soon after, it was always stuck on hot. One of the many threads...
Sorry I didn't see this post earlier. I had the exact same issue last spring and I know of at least two other cases where the spring broke at the bushing. Anyway, just want to let you know you're not alone. https://www.ranger5g.com/forum/threads/both-leaf-springs-broke.29518/
I had the same issue last spring (both sides) at just over 50,000 miles. I forget the exact steps, but I went to the Ford website and either started a chat session or filled out a form explaining my issue (I had already paid for the repair). It took several months, but Ford eventually sent me a...
That is impressive welding work! Did you check the leaf spring on the other side of the truck? You should be able to get a finger up around the knuckle and feel for a break.
It's nice they stripped the engine all the way down so you could see the failure (I assume this based on your photos). I've blown two engines (not Fords and over 100K) but other than getting a few metal fragments and some theories I've never had a mechanic take apart an engine. Nice they gave...
I added running boards after I noticed some wear on the edge of the seat caused when I would slide out of the truck. The addition of the running boards gives me something to step on so I wasn't sliding out. So, something minor, but worth considering.
I didn't see mention of the blend vent repair on the carfax. Maybe it doesn't always get recorded. The blend vent failure is common in the 2019 Ranger (you can search for that in this forum). When the blend vent fails, Ford recommends replacing the entire vent box and that requires pulling the...
I have the parts and I'll hang on to them for a while. I'm not looking to cause problems for Ford, but the "how could this happen" part of me wants to do more research.
Ford installed new OEM leaf springs this morning. I will attach photos of the broken eye mounts and bushings. The rear eye mounts looked pristine. The mechanic noted that the cracked off parts were rusted so the cracks probably occurred some time ago. I honestly cannot think of a time when I...
Thanks all. It was a clean break both sides. I just took a photo looking up into the bracket on the driver's side - the passenger side looks about the same. I see some rust on the edges but I assume that might be normal for a five year old truck? I'll be sure to get several photos of the break...
The forward mount on the spring broke in the same spot on both sides of the truck. I'll attach a drawing. I can feel the break when I put my finger up into the brocket. The "hole" must have bent to allow the springs to drop down (might have been about two inches) and then bent back when the...
No pictures but I will get some photos of the removed springs next week when they are replaced ($1,700 estimate at Ford). The break was in the top of the mounting hole on both sides and the springs then pulled out. There was a loud bang so the mechanic stopped lifting immediately. They actually...
2019 Ford Ranger XL with 47,000 miles. I brought my Ranger in for an oil change this morning. As the mechanic lifted the truck, the forward leaf spring mount holes (sorry I don't know the correct term) broke on both sides and the leaf springs detached from the mounts. I could see through a large...
I had that issue a month ago after taking my Ranger for a little test drive through snow drifts (it does well) and wondered if anyone else ever had that happen. The next day as I was driving down the highway I had just figured out why the truck was shaking when that ice chunk let loose. Made a...
The Ramp I park in at work has a height restriction of 6 feet 8 inches. The Ranger has an unusually large plastic antenna mounted on the roof and it hits the height warning sign at the ramp entrance - makes a loud gong noise. I've listened carefully as I drive through the ramp and it doesn't hit...
