What's the best product to remove the glue from a dealer installed badge without damaging the clear coat?

I can usually use a hairdryer and peel the vinyl stickers off without leaving any goo. But I second GooGone for cleaning up the remaining stuff, make sure to re-wax the affected area afterwards.

My Dealer's name was painted on so I haven't tried to remove it. Will get that removed if I ever need to take it to a body shop for work.

I used waxed dental floss to remove the factory Eco-boost badge. I removed the small amount of remaining adhesive by rolling it up with my finger. No residue and no damage. Almost all the sticky backing was still on and I was able to re-stick that one on in the engine compartment. Still stuck solid after 2 months.

On a new truck the badges seem fairly easy to remove. Most are stuck on with 3M VHB rubber backed material. I haven't decided about the other large badges but as mentioned Goo-Gone seems safe for clearcoat.

Also, I peeled the Edge decals off my 05 Ranger after 8 years and used Goo-Gone to remove a little residue with no problems.

Goo Gone , test it in a hidden area like the bottom of the rocker panel if you are concerned about the finish

I must be a weird one but I bought mine with with fx4 decals removed and I so wanted them. Imo it's like buying a Gucci bag and not branded. I ordered some decals from ebay and reinstalled them my self. I just love how they look. Specially with the shadow black color

I'm with you. I like the FX4 decal. I'm removing the dealer installed free advertising decals...unless they want to make a car payment or two.

Hi Folks,

Decals on my racecar were there because they gave me product or $. No free ride for anyone. First thing when I got home with my new Ranger was to pop off the Dealer chrome plastic name...came off easy and cleaned up residual Then I tackled the license plate holder ended up with chrome surround with two Ford Ovals and no dealer name...dealer name was a peel and stick on the chrome license plate surround.

Best,

Quick Question,
Does the plastic ford oval tailgate emblem pop out, or do I have to go through the back just to change the plastic center?
Thanks in advance...

I'm going a different route. I ordered a white Ranger but I don't care for the red FX4 decal so I'm taking it off and applying a blue one.

2019 Ranger,
My dealer knows me well enough to not put dealer decals or emblems on a vehicle I buy. They also know not to put a dealer plate or anything on the front. They know that if they drill any holes they will fix it.

Floss through the emblem foam and then automotive goo gone and a credit card worked flawless on my dealer emblem. Rinse with water and not even the slightest scratch on the Ranger's clear.

Paint??? Boy, we'd have a major issue if that was done to my truck.
