Do all the models of the 19-23 Ranger call out the same transmission fluid level hot?

Between 4-5 on the stick?

Both two wheel drive and four wheel drive?

I pretty much have the cheaper stick figured out, with a real flat blade stick and a much bigger ID hose for filling.

If all Rangers call out for between 4-5 I may be able to make pre-marked sticks.

I still have a ways to go with making a proper mount, but it's getting there.

If I understand the question right , yes.

That is a fitting I machined down to fit the Ford dip stick (it's off a older model Ford) so the -10 hose and fittings are standard.

So are all the Ranger models the same?

Between 4-5 on the dipstick?

This website has videos. Step #4 says between 4 - 5.
That's a non-Ford website and calls out model years for ROW rangers. There appears to be a lot of varying information on this. And even Ford don't know what dipstick to use. No wonder they can’t get the level right from the factory. Probably why people are have issues.

Knock on wood, mine behaves beautifully.

Well, I missed it by a 1/8th of a inch on length, I was trying to have the crosshatch start at the top of 4, as the stick says dont add in the crosshatch.

I will have to mark all the numbers if I go off and start making more of these.

I had to make a plate to get a accurate measurement.

So now I have to fab up a mount, what sucks the truck is at Ford getting it APIM module, I cant work on it.

Amazon has a few options. There's a cheap way, and a nice way to mount things up. Could just look for a screw to mount it with or use a self tapping screw.

Looking good! I assume the plan is to have this mounted vertical close to the cowl for easy filling. Seems like the B&M one is a bit long for our trucks.

@Fitzmotor by the way, what size fitting is it that goes to the transmission anyway?
I had to buy the cap and stick assembly to find out, I figure, all I'll have accomplished with this post, is showing that it's not difficult to make, order the fittings, machine the fitting, cut the hose, assemble it to the correct length, buy the right stick, make a bracket.

The hard part is figuring it all out for the first time, if it all works, then I have to decide weather or not I try to sell them, or give out the info and let everybody build their own.

I already mentioned the pitch in a earlier post, M20 x 1.5mm.

So the real question would be, how many people really would buy one?

Or rather take what I've shown and make their own, I wonder if the next question will be "what's that dipstick from"

If I set up to sell them they will be crimped on hose ends, I still have to figure out the bracket, (I already have the billet one above) I'm going to mount it to the engine, that's how most dipsticks are mounted, otherwise you transmit noise and vibration right into the firewall.

I haven't added it up yet, I'm a long way from guessing a price, it's setup and 4 lathe cuts on the upper fitting and the bracket labor is a unknown, everything else is off the shelf, I do have to remark the stick, it wont be bad, a lot less than B&M.

Thanks for all the interest, I wish I could proceed, truck is still at the dealer, yesterday I got the call "the APIM didn't fix the problem", waited 6 weeks for it:curse:, I'll have it back tomorrow fixed or not.

I'm also just cooking around to see what i can come up with, nothing as fancy yours. I don't have access to a lathe and I'm not skilled with machining things. I'm gathering parts here and there as cheap as i can find them and see how it all measures out and works. I planned on posting pictures and info of my setup as well. But yes, either way, WAAAY cheaper than $230

The problem with "selling" them is the liability involved. If something should happen to the item that caused a failure of some type (fluid leakage, incorrect markings, ect ) it could come back to bite you. As a "modification" if a tranny problem comes up. Ford could always point to it saying it might have been a cause/partial cause.
Not saying it will happen, but if someone files a claim or lawsuit against you for damage or repair, do you have the resources to handle it ???
You could always make them and "give" them to all your friends who could "repay" you for the materials used.
You just have to be aware that it could create problems. Of course, if you just provided the plans and a list of items used to make it, there is no liability involved.
Great that you were able to fab something like this up !!!
