So many great photos of destinations that are on my bucket list. I get my fill of tight trails, mud, ruts, snow, rocks and water, but big desert rock and trail or big sand are not common here.

I had been planning to spend the upcoming winter season touring USA, but probably gonna have to hold out another year and see how the restrictions evolve.

Great trucks and photos to all!!!

Some mild off-roading while moving a electric wire on plastic poles horse fence to other place.

Have to say that Raptor handles 90km/h (55mph) without a hickup on this. Prolly more, but mine does not go faster..

Was on vacation in La Quinta last week and decided to take the Ranger on its very first off-road adventure. Admittedly, I am as green as one can be when it comes to off roading, so I made sure I picked a relatively easy trail to navigate. After some research, I decided to run the Ranger on the Berdoo Canyon Trail starting from Dillon Road and ending inside Joshua Tree National Park. Berdoo Canyon Trail is an easy one and probably not much of a challenge to the experienced off-roader. However, I felt it like it would be a good one for me to get my feet wet.

At the beginning of the trail from Dillon Road. Takes you past some popular, local outdoor shooting spots as evidenced by the number of objects used as targets and the shell casings on the ground.

Someone was not happy with the resolution of their tv.

Best looking Ranger on the trail that day

Shortly after starting the trail where the Berdoo Canyon Road pavement ends, there is a nice uphill challenge, which I did not feel comfortable taking on by myself. The road uphill looks much steeper in person and is full of loose sand and multiple holes.

At the top, one is rewarded with nice views and a nice camping spot.

The road down is in the same shape as the road up. Would have made for some nice flex pics.

Sign when starting the trail from inside JTNP. Can’t say that one isn’t warned.

Next to a Joshua Tree after completing the trail.

All in all, my first off road adventure was an awesome experience, and one that I and my wife thoroughly enjoyed. I see why off roading becomes an addictive and expensive habit!
Berdoo Canyon is a good place to off road all the way to the back side of Joshua Tree.

This past Saturday, I went with some local GA Ranger owners on a trail ride. We started on Tray Mountain and then went a little further north and hit Popcorn Creek Trail, near Charlie's Creek Trail (for those who know the area).

Tray Mountain is a well maintained trail that is accessible, for the most part, by regular family cars. We were a little (very little) concerned because we had heard of two vehicles becoming very stuck on the trail during the week. Like this guy:

In retrospect, after having driven this very mudhole, and none of our trucks getting stuck (11 in all), I think if this guy had stayed in the ruts he would've been fine, but he probably bottomed out by taking the line he did. At the same spot, the same week, we had a vehicle that probably should've driven around. HAHAHA
stopped by a creek for lunch and it was absolutely perfect! It was nice and cool under the trees and the sound from the creek was great! I'm going to definitely be dragging my wife out there for a picnic!

The second trail we hit, Popcorn Creek Trail, was a little more technical and also way more overgrown than when I last drove it, last year. About halfway through this trail, it opened up with a really heavy thunderstorm that made everything more fun! We had one vehicle suffer damage at the very end; his alternator ate it during a creek crossing to get off the trail. Luckily for him, he was able to make it home and actually cleaned the alternator and it seems to be working again.

Here are some of my videos from Popcorn Creek Trail (nothing that awesome):

And pics from that day...

Looks like a fun time!

Wish I could've gone.

In that recovery of the Colorado, I was cringing watching those guys standing next to the taut winch cable.

At least put something over the cable so that if it breaks it will fall to the ground instead of whipping around like a steel weed eater line.

RIGHT!?!
I don't have a winch damper flag/bag...

...YET! But I plan on getting one. And until I get one, I have a back-up plan to help keep that from happening. I figure if I need to winch, I will drape my heavy snatch strap over the winch line and hang the hooks on it, to help weight it down incase it wants to go ballistic!

Look at it again, it's not cable, it's spectra or whatever synthetic line. It doesn't do the " snapback and cut you in half " trick that cable does.
