Went exploring this weekend in the depths of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan forests. Ended up snowing in the afternoon which made it a bit muddy, sloppy, and slick. Ended up pushing my abilities and the truck beyond what we've done before. Still much less intense than some of you guys do still though. A couple firsts on this outing as well.
First time in the sloppy mud.
First time doing a river crossing.
First time doing a beaver pond crossing.

All-in-all the truck did so great! Every time I'd fall into the mud ruts I'd be worried I'd get stuck or at least have a hard time, but the truck never really seemed to care about it. Got a little squirrely climbing the hills in the snow and mud, but I expected that. Never ran into anything I couldn't handle.

Mudslop pits that caused us to turn around and go a different route. It had been sketchy up to this point, and this was the point where if it looked better after I might go for it, but it didn't. So not worth it out alone in the middle of nowhere with the snow getting heavier.

We didn't take any pictures of the river crossing. But here's some shots of the beaver pond crossing. This was on out alternate route after being cutoff by the mudpits above. Came around the corner and saw this sea of water. About a hundred feet long. Got out, walked along the beaver dam which created this mess, was able to see the bottom in some places and there were grass and the bases of trees still sticking out on the side. Went through it slowly, waiting for the bottom to drop out. Luckily it never did and the water was probably between 12-18" deep. My hands were shaking pretty good after that though. haha

Me walking along the beaver dam to the right checking it out

Came across another water crossing in the backwoods of the Superior National Forest this past Sunday. We were out scouting for dispersed camping sites and other interesting points to visit later. This one wasn't as bad or sketchy as the beaver pond crossing last weekend in the UP though.

At this point we've done 3 water crossings in the last week, so I guess we're pros at it now, eh. haha Definitely a confidence booster when it comes to off-road exploration though.

Also, bonus of Charlie sticking his head out the rear driver side window.

Does this count as offroading watched so many people have to get towed off the beach, even a brand new Colorado dug himself into above the doors right in front of me.

just need new suspension and some 33s tires and it will look a lot better proportionally, haven't decided if I'm going to keep the wheels or buy new ones with the tires stock are pretty nice though, if anything I might paint them black.

Yup. I'm waiting for OME to be back in stock and that'll be my current upgrade. I went to 32" Wildpeaks to not have to worry about cutting crash bars or any other clearance issues.

I'm also in the same boat on the rims. I really like them, even though they're a huge pain to clean, but the look is good.

I love the factory wheels. At least the look of them. Only complaint was the way they set under the truck. So I just used some wheel spacers now the look is complete. At least for me

getting one of those big wheel specific brushes makes it a lot easier I probably would of bought new ones if I didn't have that and i ceramic coated them so they already are slick to clean. Will see how much room i get with a king 2.5 kit with 3" lift, will decide if i need spacers or wheels with offsets after that. As far as crash bars i will take them off or buy the aftermarket ones not a big issue there for me. feel like people think crash bars do more than they really do.

Yeah, I've got a lot of body/protection stuff on the radar for this year hopefully. And for me, the crash bars are about keeping my no-drill Gatorback mudflaps on. They're the best flaps I've ever had and with lifetime tear off warranty. And they make a massive difference in dust when off-road in the desert/dry conditions, to say nothing of water and mud.

ya mud flaps will probably be on the list once i get the bigger tires that have more bite to fling stuff up. Highly reccomend anyone with a car ceramic coat their stuff, so easy these days to do yourself and makes a wild difference when you go to clean. New turtle wax graphene stuff also keeps your paint cooler which is a weird side effect I like.

Spent a couple days in Grand Junction and Moab. We didn’t do any off-roading in Grand Junction, but we did hit Onion Creek on the way to Moab.
