When in doubt...Reboot. ?

I think someone had a problem with their drivers window not being able to "one touch" and that was their solution. With so many computers onboard they're bound to glitchy now and then.

I don't typically think of that for vehicles, but it does make sense. Anything computerized these days has lots of bugs and rebooting (in this case a hard boot) returns it to a known, normalized state which can fix a whole host of weird issues.

Our first question back when I was an IT support tech was "have you turned your computer off and back on?" We asked that so much people would start off describing their problem with "I tried turning it off and back on but ..." I can't tell you how many times we would go through with rebooting anyway saying we needed a fresh restart to be able to help and it resolved the problem. That or we found people were rebooting their monitors.
Admittedly, I have found myself failing to turn things "off and back on" not thinking there are computers in just about everything now. Cars are no exception.

That's good news.
BUT, I have to ask; did you lose anything by disconnecting the battery?
Such as:
Any settings you changed other than default?
XM still associated?
ATT hotspot still works?
FordPass still works?
Nav favorites still there?

I know a 'Master Reset' will set you back a bit; I was just wondering if disconnecting the battery lost anything.
Did you have to initialize/re-associate anything?

Joe C, Good question. Went to cut a Christmas tree and found the settings on Sirus XM preset stations had change along with the dash presentation. Easy to put back to my requirements. The driver's side auto window stopped working; the window still goes up and down, but not automatically. Looking for a fix. All else seams to be in order.

Try this to fix the auto window feature. Begins on page 84 in my 2020 manual.

Resetting the Memory of the Electric Windows - Vehicle with One Touch Up/Down on Driver Side only
Note: The bounce back feature remains turned off until you reset the memory.
In the event of a flat battery or after the battery is disconnected from the vehicle, you must reset the memory for the driver window.
1. Open the window and then try to close it using the one-touch feature.
2. Lift and hold the switch to the second action point until you fully close the window.
3. Lift and hold the switch for more than two seconds and release.
4. Open the window using the first action point and try to close it automatically using the second action point.
5. If the window does not open or close automatically when you press the switch or lift it to the second action point, repeat the procedure.

Resetting the Bounce-Back Feature Note: The bounce-back feature remains
turned off until you reset the memory.
If you disconnect the battery, you must reset the bounce-back memory separately for each window.
1. Lift and hold the switch until you fully close the window.
2. Release the switch.
3. Lift the switch again for one second.
4. Press and hold the switch until you fully close the window.
5. Release the switch.
6. Lift and hold the switch until you fully close the window.
7. Open the window and then try to close it automatically.
8. Reset and repeat the procedure if the window does not close automatically.

Thank you alcohenusa. I basically did that when the window stopped working with no results. As you suggested, the next day I went to do the exact steps that you listed and found the window working as designed. I guess the night time poltergeist fixed the problem. Thanks again.

Isn't that what the little tray in the center console is for... a 10mm wrench?

Be sure to carry one with you in the truck. Might save your bacon when the truck dies in the middle of nowhere.... ??

Yes, RedlandRange it would have been nice if Ford included this technology on the tail gate handle. But it is not a long walk to push the button on a rear door, keep the FOB in your pocket.

The new F150 seems like it can do this. The tailgate opens by pushing a button like on a crossover. It's then let down by a powered damper. You can also close it with the FOB

These threads do have a problem going astray of the original problem. To start with the basics, the doors do not unlock with pressing the detent in the handle. Unlock is by grasping the handle to open the door. Locking is accomplished by touching the detent. If these two conditions do not function, take it to the dealer. Good luck, hope they can help.

If you're away from home and need to disconnect the batter to re-boot it.

Im just happy the tailgate locks -- I have the key ignition version but next time - lariat!
