Anyone else have this? I use it every time I park the truck. Seems to have been torn a while. I'm guessing pleather and 0° days don't mix. It was kinda folded to where it wasn't noticeable. Only noticed it giving it a quick cleaning.

That looks shabby, and yours is a year old? I'd complain to the dealership/Ford.

Mine has been fine, but I read here on another post, somebody in Canada, had his come apart in very short order, associated to the area's cold weather--

Found the posting:) https://www.ranger5g.com/forum/thre...is-my-frustration-justified.6077/#post-104662

Okay, I didn't find anything in a search and I was curious to see if others have had this happen. I assumed the cold had something to do with it. Although we've had a milder winter, we have had several below freezing weeks. If I didn't use it, I am sure it would be fine, but, I use it like I'm supposed to, mainly because I park on an incline.

Going on 9 months. Just over 10k miles. To be clear, I fully expect this to be covered by warranty, just hard to believe these are this fragile in cold climates. Must have got a good deal on these. I have never seen something like this, dating back to the 80's when hand parking brakes started becoming common.

Noticed a very small (1/4 inch) tear in mine yesterday. Owned ~2 months. I suspect use in cold weather is to blame, as I can feel that it is stiffer when the temps are below freezing. I'll be bringing it to the attention of the dealership next time I'm in.

Never been one to use parking brake on automatic vehicles but always did on manual. Probably should to make sure it works.

What will the replacement be? The same piece will do the same thing.

Mine is torn and I live in Texas. It's not cold weather, it's just crappy material.
Hi Dale,

Is it possible to get a photo of the damage? I do not use the parking brake except when I am hooking up the Ranger to the RV and the T/C is in neutral...parking pall is useless in this case.

Ask, and ye shall receive. My truck interior is getting wrecked by all of the sawdust I inadvertently carry into the truck each day .

Hi Dale,

Thanks! Checked mine, but because it has only operated a few times, still looks brand new. Do you plan to take it back to the dealer? It sort of looks like the white cracked area is a point of flex. In looking at mine it has so many creases and crinkled areas It almost looks like it was first used in a school bus and grafted onto the Ranger.... I do not view it as a "clean" design. Wonder which manufacturer is responsible for this boot. Someone needs to diagnose what is going on here. Some poor engineer in body trim needs to have a few of these piled on his desk for the supplier to visit and assess. Terrible to have so many complaints on such a visible trim item. I am no expert but I am wondering if this is a synthetic and not real leather.

Mine has the same issue. Dealer had to order a new boot but it was on back order. Just came in and having it replaced on Monday. I noticed these tears within 2,000-3,000 miles. I live in San Diego so not very cold. Use the Ebrake everyday bc I live on a steep hill. I hope the replacement doesn't have the same issue. Lot's of little issues with this truck. Think they rushed them out to soon. This is my first Ford ever. Don't know if I would buy another one.

Exactly!! It appears it is "crappy material" :curse:--Closely inspected mine again, and it does have a issue!!!! And it's not really "cold" here in Phoenix, on top of the fact I almost never use it-
