So much for Ford cracking down on their dealers for these ridiculous adjustments.Little market adjustment here..

Yeah, but most BMW's sold in the states are either mad in the US or Mexico.[
Or,save the shipping fiasco and allow me to pick the freaking thing up at the factory.
It rolls off the line in Michigan, they pdi it at the factory and I arrive to pick it up.
Instead of the truck sitting in a rail yard for days, weeks or even months.
Hell, you can buy a BMW from the states fly to Germany to pick it up at the factory, drive around Europe and then ship the thing back to the states.
Stealerships. Now why didn't I think of that?!When I purchased off a lot in mid October of this year I paid $1,500 ADM for my Ranger. Not proud of it but I repeat it so that other people get a realistic picture of what the buying market was like at the time. My salesman told me numbers for the Maverick and Bronco that seemed in line with what you are saying. He said they add $20,000 ADM for a Bronco and $15,000 for a Maverick. That said, they started at $7,500 markup for my Ranger and we walked down throughout the afternoon..
Agree the madness is slowing down. I was hoping it would be over by now, even. Stealerships, man, I tell ya.
Always ask for the contract for the add ons. What you'll see is that typically they say something like, "Not a requirement for purchasing or for financing". Look for that then simply tell them, no thank you on those. OF course, the sales manager does have the option of forcing it, but if it's that important (and it was for me, btw), you can walk away, but always ask for each contract for the dealer add on, which should always be part of your financing package. My elderly parents just when through the car buying process to purchase an SUV. Dealers that have SUVs in stock do not charge markup prices. Instead they charge MSRP + $499 window tint + $1995 ceramic coating + $250 floor mats + $500 roof rack, on and on...
You cannot refuse any of the dealer add-ons.
Too many Americans focus on "payment." Sad. Says quite a bit about the general ignorance of our overall population.A good family friend is one of the largest Ford dealers in the U.S. (he also sells GM and Chyslers too) I've ordered all my vehicles from over the last 30 years and my father before me. He does not charge above MSRP. We've talked frankly about the business. He tells me he is making a lot more profit on each vehicle, but moving a lot fewer vehicles - because he cannot get them. Last week told me Ford (and obviously other makes as well) cannot get many of their ordered vehicles simply because there is a significant shortage of truck drivers, which compounds the chip shortage.
I've asked him, as well as several other dealerships, "How many customers do not care what a vehicle costs, only their monthly payments." Most responses are around 75% but a dealer in San Diego mentioned 90-95%. The San Diego dealer was marking up F150 Raptors $25K, Focus RS $7.5K. It's crazy why someone would not drive out of state to buy at MSRP or less.
If I had a chunk of Gold for sale with a market value of 10k; and I had 20 folks show up at my house to buy it, I'm selling it to the highest bidder, and getting much more than 10k. One of the folks who shows up has been saving to buy this chunk of gold for years and just now scrapped up the last few dollars. Does he have the "right" to be pissed that it went for more than he could afford?
I put A LOT of the blame on the school system too. I mean kids have no clue what principal and interest is or how to even balance a checkbook. Never mind that some can't even tell time on a conventional clock.Too many Americans focus on "payment." Sad. Says quite a bit about the general ignorance of our overall population.

Neither you or Adam should be pissed. It's called Capitalism. How many folks are out of the housing market because of the very thing you've described. It's not Ford's business model, it's the dealer and the dealers, just like any retailer, wants to make as much money as possible on his products. It's the way things are and, yes, it hurts the guy that has saved for years only to be aced out of a purchase. At one time or another it's happened to all of us. In any event, now is not the time to be taking on a lot of debt, like a new vehicle, let alone paying over MSRP for one.If I had a deposit on a similar chunk of gold from you and you started selling chunks to walk up bidders first then yes , I have the right to be pissed . Seems to be Fords business model of late .
There's a difference in capitalism and being unethical . A lot of the Bronco , Maverick and Lightning ADMs are downright unethical . I'm sure not everyone shares the same beliefs as I but I find most views such as yours are from dealerships , lawyers or politicians .Neither you or Adam should be pissed. It's called Capitalism.
A checkbook, is that like venmo?I put A LOT of the blame on the school system too. I mean kids have no clue what principal and interest is or how to even balance a checkbook. Never mind that some can't even tell time on a conventional clock.![]()
