When I was stationed at Camp Pendleton late at night when the signals were switched and stronger in the west I could pick up KRVN 880AM radio Lexington, NE in California.

Those AM signals are no joke. some years ago listening to a Red wings game (the last year they won the Stanley Cup) my wife & I were going to the UP Michigan listening to it (I live S of Detroit) & albeit it would be very in & out we were still picking it up near the bridge.

Ah the days of a good hockey team

Ok, rush limbaugh is gone ? i am still sad about it. Listened since 1991. Anyway
I listen to am in the morning, between nascar and rock music, then i heart radio, then nascar, then back to am in afternoon and then back to music. Am is still a big part of listening. Man. Another huge change

My Fusion Hybrid didn't interfere with the AM radio. So it's sorta possible that it wouldn't be an issue.
I'm guessing (it is just a guess) the electric motor in a hybrid isn't big enough to produce enough interference. Our cmax hybrid AM radio works as well.

As long as the vehicle is built well to prevent interference to hen it's fine

That's great thing about AM radio. Signals can travel huge distances.
Back in the day, I'd listen to KGO SanFrancisco while near Whitehorse YT.

Another common vehiclular AM purpose is DOT transmitting information iin select areas of construction, disaster, etc.
Maybe those will change over to FM ??

Ahhhh, Yessss.......AM Radio....Wolfman Jack, Chicken Man ( He's Everywhere He's Everywhere), and Miami Fla WQAM's Rick Shaw Friday and Saturday Night Sign Off with Good Night My Love...
Those were good times !!!
WOW! I was just preparing a post discussing this very topic. I grew up in Homestead. Attended South Dade High School. WQAM was a staple. The ONLY station any kid listened to. I remember well the sign off. I even found and have that song on my thumb drive in my Ranger!

Friday night High School football at Harris Field right off US-1, followed by a stop at A&W for an ice cold Root Beer and a steak sandwich with my sweetheart in my 57 2 door Chevy Belair - window rolled up 4" for the tray, and radio tuned to 560 AM - WQAM. Then on the way home listening to this Good Night my Love! Yeah! Those were good times!

I cycled through Camp Pendleton while riding the PCH - dudes at the gate are serious - signs warning of tank crossings are even more serious.

As a teenager in Calgary, I could pick up a top 40 radio station from Vancouver, BC on my car radio. I thought it was so cool. ?

Oh yeah......gate security are serious probly more now than they were back in '90-'91. Those Abrams will hurt ya! Was still cool to pick up our radio station 1/2-way across the country......made me feel a bit closer to home!
