few days back, towed 40 miles home. First time towing with my Ranger. Lots of good advice given to me from members here. Bilstein 4600's on rear and Blue Sumo bump springs. Purchased an Equalizer wdh/sway system at the dealer. Had a little back and forth with install guy as I felt trailer was high in the front at first. Guilted them into adding a longer drop stinger (?) and here's how it looks. At the fender wells, rear of truck dropped half an inch, front rose by the same. Picture shows setup with hardly any weight added so things might change and might have to tweak the wdh a bit.
It towed so well, truck and trailer felt like one unit, barely any flex. Just a real positive feel, most comfortable tow I've ever done. Last setup was an F150 and a lighter trailer with sway bar only. That was fine, but I now know how good it can be. I chalk it up to the wdh , never used one before. BTW, trailer is 5,000 lbs loaded and hitch weight supposedly 550 lbs.
Suggestions and comments welcome. Want to thank the people here once more.

Very nice rig Tony. Airstreams tow exceptionally well once set up....and you seemed to have got it done right the first time. Considered one in the past, but never did get one.
Many happy and safe miles traveled to you...lots of memories to be made.
And, yes, SuperCab FOR THE WIN !!!

An airstream is probably the only non fully molded fiberglass trailer I would consider. I really like the Equalizer WDH, and yes to the SCAB. I too have 4600’s and Blue Sumos with “factory” brake controller, although I prefer the P3. Nice weight that hits the Ranger sweet spot. That rig should work very well. There is no reason it cannot be set up to be excellent. Go make lots of great memories.

Go to a truck stop with scales and find out what it really weights.

It would be nice to know, but this is one of those trailers that, as far as the Ranger is concerned, isn.t critical.
All the Bambi's are on one axle, and limited to 5000 gross weight, and all of them except one, has a tongue weight of under 550 lbs....the 22 footer is around 625 lbs.
Empty weights are way under the Rangers capacity, around 3500 lbs. This is just one of those rigs that you can just pretty much hook up and go and not worry about weights.

This is a Bambi 19'. I'm not concerned with Overall weight. Am curious about tongue weight and payload. The wdh alone weighs a lot but at almost 71 everything is getting heavier.

Very nice!
Airstreams are very nice to tow, especially with an Equalizer weight distribution/anti-sway. I had a 28-foot Safari and towed with my F-350. I had to keep looking in rear view mirror to make sure the trailer was still there.
Your rig looks level, you should have no problems with the Bambi. Got electric brakes/cab controller? They do come in handy when going up and over our California passes.

Tongue weight for proper balance and truck payload are a genuine consideration. My trailer’s gross is 5K and I am typically around 4600-4700lbs and 560lbs on the tongue. I got the Ranger set up with 1827 for payload. Loaded, I am below my 12,100 combined, but only about 400-500lbs.

Thanks,
I'm unclear on a few things regarding tongue weight. For now, lets assume its the 550 lbs that Airstream claims. The WDH is almost 100 lbs. I'd think that my tongue weight is then 650 lbs, make sense? As well, that 650 lbs is considered payload isn't it?
I'm not too worried, it towed like a dream, although not loaded. Just trying to make sense of the numbers.

My understanding has always been tongue weight is just that and hitch weight is part of your payload.

Forgot to add, yes the total amount counts against your payload, but the weight of your hitch is not part of the tongue weight.
