I don’t know much about Jackson. We only learned Canadian history - you know, things like the fur trade, hockey, the Canadarm, Anne Murray, SCTV, and the Chevrolet Beaumont ;)

Looks like NV could be the second in the US to have a lithium mine. The mine will be the prospective supplier for both Ford and Toyota that could produce enough lithium for 370,000 electric vehicles a year.

I'm not sure how they think this is good news seeing as we out here in the west are in a serious drought? Lake Mead is at record low levels now and mining for lithium takes 500,000 gallons of water to extract 1 ton of lithium. ?‍♂

Real world, the water shortage will push potable reuse into more mainstream systems.

There is only so much water in the world, and this would be a good use for it...

Evaporative lithium collection evaporates enormous amount of water. Evaporation basically boils the water and the steam escapes into atmosphere after which it is lost permanently.
Did you skip 3rd grade where they explained the water cycle?

Dave,
Honest to God my best friend in high school and then in my 20’s moved back to Canada after HS and worked for Grapes for the better part of 25 years. He managed all his restaurants all over Canada. Just talked to him at Christmas time. Thinking of taking a trip to see him this summer. When I do I’ll tell Grapes you said hi ??

On another note. They just reported the second biggest lithium deposit and it’s in Maine. Problem is the owner’s can’t mine it easily with the existing laws there. They’re in court trying to get it changed so Nevada deposit is the big one right now https://www.mainepublic.org/2021-10...-in-western-maine-but-mining-it-could-be-hard

That's so awesome! I always loved watching Hockey Night In Canada and Grapes always kept you entertained. Especially with his wild suites.

Interesting about the Maine lithium mine. I wonder how much it'll cost them to pay everyone off.

Here's a great idea....
The USA declares war on Canada, we invade Canada, and we let them BEAT US !!!!
Then we can claim "foreign aid" be paid to help the USA get back on it's feet....aid like oil, water, eggs....but they can keep the poutine !!!

What I've read is that we will all end up paying more for crops grown in CA and AZ - esp lettuce, fuits and nuts, takes lots of water to grow an almond. I predict the Great Lakes region will see an economic resurgence sometime in the future owing to water and moderate climate. CO will be in a court battle soon if NE pushes forward will plans to claim more Platter River water.
I feel better now that I left AZ last month for IN. Ill be in an economic boom area. At least everything is cheaper hear. Hello 3.99 for a dozen eggs!
