Hello all,
New here but lurking for a while.

It looks like the hood may have impacted the windshield. It looks to have released up and flipped back into that upper corner and then landed on the drivers side. Or did the emergency crew open and twist the hood back to the driver side of the vehicle for some reason?
The hood came off from the impact. But the damage on the windshield looks like it was from the inside.

Glad you’re ok. These little Rangers seem to hold up well in frontal collisions. I am curious about the impact on the windshield. Can you comment a bit on the deplyment of the airbags?
The all inflated except the passenger one due to no one in the seat. I never even felt the air bag. But after all the movement stopped, I opened my eyes and saw solid white. Thought, "I'm I alive?" LOL but it was the airbag slowly deflating.

Not trying to sound like a idiot but what is the damper?
If you have to ask, you didn't have one, thankfully! ;)
It's a soft-open mod for the tailgate.

We are ALL grateful for the job your Ranger did protecting you.
Incredibly thankful you weren't seriously hurt.

Lol
Its the tailgate damper. Its a piston That allows it to go down slowly. Big joke here on the forum because the tailgates are so light.

Oh, the cylinder that slowed the tailgate from busting your knee. LOL. Yes, I had one. But unfortunately, USAA already got the truck.

Damn brother, glad you're alive & kicking. Glad the truck protected you when you needed it to. It sacrificed itself for your protection and for that we're grateful! You live to drive another day. Don't fret going to get checked out over any injuries you might have sustained. Sometimes they can creep on you days, weeks or even months after. Godspeed in your recovery.

Any sensible person at the junk yard knows the value of a damper. They'll remove it and frame it on the office wall. ?

First off it’s a miracle you walked away from this wreck! One thing is for sure, with the number of these I have seen photos of in serious wrecks the crash rating test results for these trucks is no lie. They’re leagues ahead of the competition in this aspect. Hope to see some photos of your replacement Ranger soon!

Well, Friday was a bad day. A drunk driver pulled out in front of me on the freeway and I hit him. Did not get a change to put my ReadyLIFT SST lift kit on it. Sure going to miss her. I guess I need to look on here for a sale page for the lift.

Hi William,

It looks like the driver steering wheel air bag deployed and hopefully you were belted in such that the windshield hit was from the outside as it appears here, not your poor head.... The truck did its job in the extremely unfortunate accident. That you are here to post pictures is a testimonial to the Computer analysis and the crash testing for occupant survival and the Ranger did its job to provide a passenger compartment safety cell... Sad event! Crash testing is very expensive, but worth every penny if it saves just one person.... Can not tell you how pleased I am that the Ranger did its job and allows you to be here today posting on the Forums...

Best,
Phil
