Interestingly enough, the service manual instructions for installation are "reverse removal process" and does not have torque specs. When I do my install on the 13th, I will update. I am doing it at a shop with a tech, who has access to all the service manuals.

I'm curious how much the additional weight in fuel would hurt gas mileage but I'm definitely putting this on my list, call it a minimum of 800 miles on a tank of fuel would be fantastic

The extra gas weights ~110 lbs (6 lbs per gallon) and the tank is ~75 more (I am guessing. I am going to do a before and after weigh in). 200 lbs should not make a difference in economy.

The guy on here, who has been a tester of the prototype tank says his mpg has not been affected.

I’d really like the tank, but am concerned about safety and liability with that mod. I’m holding off for now and carrying a DOT approved 5 gallon can secured in the bed. Not perfect, but if prudent, generally acceptable with insurance liability.

I looked through the service manuals it wouldn’t load file corrupted. But I found this on another post not sure if it’s accurate.

Got my tank installed this weekend with no major issues. Did it in my driveway and while a lift would have been helpful it’s doable without.
instructions are generally lacking though. House clamp on the front right was tricky to install and there is NO way to drill out the front left hole for the bolt with a standard drill bit.

I somehow got some high pressure hose clamps in mine that would not fit the 5/8” line so had to go to the store mid install. As I mentioned previously it was a crap shoot for torquing the bolts for the fuel pump , so I ended up going to 10nm and used some blue thread lock.

in the video it shows an orange clamp fitting for the hose C2, but don’t do that, just make sure you reuse the green hose clamp that was originally on the truck.

Did you change the capacity in Forscan? If so, can you post the steps you took?

I did and I used these steps to the T. https://forscan.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=14698

You need the extended license to be able to update tank size (which is free for two months). Use this link to “generate key” https://forscan.org/support/prepare_trial_el_request.php?lang=en

I had to google what they meant by “hardware ID” that a unique identifier unique to your laptop and operating system and you can view and copy it from the forscan app “settings” page where you input license. It took around 20 minutes once I submitted the form in the link and then you download the license file and load it from the forscan app.

that first link was really straightforward to should be good for you, but feel free to ping me if you have any more questions

Thanks! I have used Forscsan for a bunch of other changes, so license isn't a problem. I am checking out the thread you linked.

I helped a friend install this tank last weekend. I would say it was helpful to have two people. It would have nice to have a better install instructions. I think he said distance to empty was 770 miles after fill up.

I used blue monster since I had some on hand!
I don't have any, but this is what I ordered. When I asked the question, I was having a hard time finding the right version of the tape. I will say, for a $2000 product, the instructions are trash. I haven't unwrapped the tank yet, but I expect much better for a product this expensive.
