I remember awhile back that Ford was planning on swapping the heavier 10R80 transmission to the lighter 10R60 in the Ranger. I believe that is for the next gen though. It would not surprise me if it happened for 2022 though. I'm not sure how a person would know.
That's what the new Bronco has for a tranny now. So far it's been holding up but it's still way to new for any hard core real world testing to be in yet.

Yes it does and it's probably fine. I was just curious if they made the switch yet in the Ranger.

You're right it's probably fine and I wouldn't doubt they'd switch it to save money. Something like that they really should leave alone until the R6G comes out.

I would assume they probably won't switch it until 6G because it would take more engineering cost and effort then the savings on one or two model years. It probably bolts right in, but software and possibly small hardware changes wouldn't be worth it.

I think they are getting acronyms confused and are referring to the spindles.

I don't believe any came with aluminum UCAs. All had steel.

Early trucks had aluminum spindles, later had steel.

@AzScorpion #20 should be spindles, not UCAs.

Let me flex my 2019 model here ?

It's doubtful that the transmission got downgraded. I think the tow rating would have to get lowered if they dropped to the 60 trans, and that rating is still 7500 lbs.
It will be interesting to see if the tow rating of the 6G get downgraded over the 5G since everything I have read so far indicates that Ford wants to switch to the lighter transmission.

EDIT: I went and looked at the on-line Ford Parts catalog and the 10R80 is listed as the transmission for the Ranger from 2019-2022 so they did not mess with that... Well yet anyhow. lol

Since there are many different threads on this I feel it's now worthy of a sticky. Just hit the edit button on this post to add any new additions so it keeps this thread updated.

1. no rear folding headrest
2. no hood struts(as of 2022)
3. no PRNDS light
4. no glovebox damper
5. no RANGER embossed into the Lariat seats
6. no console (pen) cubby
7. no 12V outlet in the console
8. no bright trim rings on the 12v covers that matched the radio knobs
9. only 4 bed tie downs instead of 6 (as of mid 2019??)
10. no engine cover
11. no key slot on tailgate lock
12. no owners manual cover
13. no power folding mirrors on XLT 302A
14. Eco badge on tailgate
15. no plugs in the rocker panels
16. no ignition bezel (has always been missing)
17. steel front fenders (aluminum before) 2022 and possibly some late 2021's
18. no bright button on parking brake
19. no color keyed tailgate handle on Lariat just black plastic without chrome pkg.
20. no aluminum spindles, they're now steel
21. rear passenger doors no longer have external touch lock
22. front seat headrest tilt adjustment
As a new ‘22 owner, I don’t regret my purchase, but this is a bit of a depressing list. ? The hood struts irritate me the most. My 05 F150 XLT had hood struts.

I can't say I blame you or anyone for being upset, it's a pretty long list. The hood struts are a surprise but at least the mounts are there and the struts should be relatively cheap. I know the ones for the Jeep are about $80.00 aftermarket. Yes they have an '80's hood prop too.

Yep - hood struts are definitely on the list of purchases to be made. ?

I had an 06 Wrangler and I would just lay the hood all the way back on the windshield. So not having struts on it didn’t bother me as much. ?‍♀

The thing is that they had to spend money to redesign the plastic panel between the grille and radiator to make a slot for the rod, but the hardware is still left in place for the struts. It's quite a bizarre design choice especially this late in the product cycle, but I suppose it saves a few bucks per vehicle and still allows owners an easy way to upgrade. I won't mess with the struts on my 2022 because the few times I open the hood to check the oil or fill the washer fluid the prop rod is fine... It just screams "cheap" though... Like 1980 Fairmont cheap.
