Was messing around with the settings yesterday and figured out you can adjust the autostart time! It always irritated me that the max time I could extend the autostart idle was 10 mins. During winters when it’s below freezing, that just never seemed like enough time to get the cab warmed up. I figured out you can change that in the settings. Now when I autostart the truck, it starts at 15 mins and I can extend the time to 30 max. That’ll be nice in the summer too when it’s 110°!
I suspect that with all the sensors and compute power dedicated to ensuring exact correct fuel / air mixture, at all imaginable temps and air pressure, you are doing any harm to your motor. Frost bite sux, as does the broiling temp in my cab after sitting in AZ summer sun for a few hours.

Lol I remember when I got my 2019 and I was able to set the remote start idle time to 45 minutes thanks to it letting me do an extension twice.

From what i understand, engines with variable oil pressure like the 2.3 need to get the oil temps to operating temps faster than what just an idle provides. Its recommended to actually drive the vehicle slowly until operating temps are reached. That said, i use my remote start feature all the time.

Seems I created an argument here lol I’ll clear up my initial post…
1) Just because I CAN idle the truck for 30 mins, doesn’t mean I’m always going to. Usually I let the truck run for 2-3 minutes while I put my boots on and walk out the door. Always drive easy to warm it up to operating temps.
2) I’m aware that cold idling an engine for long periods of time isn’t great. That said, I’m not going to put my newborn baby in a truck cab that’s 100°+ on a summer day, or put her in a truck that’s below freezing on a winter day.
3) If idling the truck an extra few minutes over the course of its life ruins it, so be it. My last truck had over 200k miles on it. I had the same habits then that I do now. I’m not sure if I buy the whole “cold idling = engine death” narrative… I could be wrong but hey, if I get 200k miles out of the ranger then I’m happy with that.
