I missed the Mission Impossible growing up.

When I hear Peter Graves I think of Airplane! and the MST3K episode with him in it and the giant grasshoppers.

Every time Peter Graves shows up the robots chime in "They're beginning to realize that I'm Peter Graves..."

I keep checking my fan hose and it looks like it's brand new. Why are some of us having them deteriorate so quickly? Sounds like you were extremely lucky not to damage the harness.
I hate it when people can't understand it is saying STOP DRIVING ME!!!!!

Just got home from the dealership in a warranty provided rental. It needs a new sensor. Thankfully I have the extended warranty!
Did I miss something? Did you still have a failure after replacing the hose?

I didn't replace the hose, just zip tied the wires out of the way. But I think the harness got chewed up a little.

Cool, dealer going to replace Fan Clutch, I am assuming due to the fact that the hose is not a separate replicable part as far as (Ford-Parts), no separate part number just for the hose.

I am curious on what Ford Techs find to be the root cause of this, the hose breakdown which is obvious allowing the module to spin with the fan, ripping the harness but does not explain a previous post on this with low milage and hose not broken down.

How is the Fan Clutch failing and putting too much force on the module, causing it to put extra pressure on the hose and breaking it?

Reason for the question:
If you disconnect the hose, the module will stay in place - Normal Ops
Somehow in a failure operation, the module is being pinched or grabbed as it is riding on the race of the shaft.

1. Possibility of bearing failure, allowing the Fan to rock backwards and pinching the module between the back of the clutch and the nut.

2. Possibility of fluid control of the clutch creating abnormal vibration in the shaft and rocking the module side to side, thus breaking the hose

3. Possibility of wear or galling on the raceway on which the module rides, there does not appear to be a bearing at that point, as with the hose disconnected you can feel the play and rotation in the module, it appears to just free float on the shaft.
Noting that any debris (rock/pebble) of any kind getting wedged in between the module and clutch could possibly cause the module to lock up with the fan clutch.

So, if you can possibly ask the dealer what the root cause of this type of failure be, since this is becoming a somewhat common issue.

I saw the previous threads on the hose rotting and performed a preemptive strike on it a few months ago. Used 3/8" fuel hose in the strongest strength and two new hose clamps. The actual replacement is molded hose, but if you cut it a skosh longer, it's all good.
