As it is time to replace the battery in my wife's Acadia, I am researching pricing. We are members of AAA and they do not have prices on their website unless you submit a "request", so I call the local AAA owned repair shop to see what they may have. Battery is located behind the passenger's seat in the floor, simple enough to get to and do myself... no big deal. For reference, it looks like Pep Boys may charge $15, Advanced Auto is "free"... the AAAss-hats at AAA quoted $200 to install... ? YES $200 ?. I laughed at her with a "wait, did you just say $450 for the battery and install? $200 to remove a bolt pull out the old and drop in the new?" She gave me a polite "yes sir"... there may, or may not, have been a you're f'n crazy... click.

What the hell... and you know people are paying it!!!

She was reading from the screen that it was a "difficult install"... I gave her a chance to check, but she stuck with her $200 for a 10 minute job... not worth my time to engage others there... I got my answer.

Logic seems to have eluded their D&I efforts. She was reading from the screen that it was a "difficult install"... I gave her a chance to check, but she stuck with her $200 for a 10 minute job... not worth my time to engage others there... I got my answer.
Unless it was an emergency situation, this was a ‘lost opportunity’. I’m always willing to take the time to ‘correct’ a situation, hopefully to everyone’s benefit. I want to leave this world a better place through my contributions.

I had a shop years ago charge for 1hr labor even if it was a 5 minute job.

I get you gotta make money for come on... I stopped going there after they decided to charge me 2 hour labor to change oil and swap a battery on an S10.

(Batteries and oil changes are cake walk on the old S10s/sonomas.)

I used to work for Tires Plus. Had a customer with a Mercedes M-Class who wanted a new battery put in and for a C or E-Class. Now at that time it was just a standard $19.95 install fee. We sold Interstate Batteries, and Interstate glass mat batteries were not too bad like $150. The guy throws a customer fit that it would cost him about $360 for two batteries and an install. I told him if he didn't like it go to Mercedes where they charge $300 alone for battery. He wasn't going to find a better deal really anywhere. He snapped about watching my mouth and I said don't complain we are a service industry and we don't have volunteers we don't work for free. He ended up paying for both batteries and install.

I can see that everything is going well here.
Down the road, someone will come across this heavily abbreviated/redacted thread and wonder just what the heck is going on. ?

Wow, that seems way out of line - so high, my first thought was it’s an error in their system. It looks like you’ll need to find your 10mm and do it yourself Scott. ;)

Not only the 10mm but a T20 also to add to the “difficulty”… I think I can handle it ?
