No idea but if Ford Corporate approved it then it must have been serious.
Engineering may want it blue tagged and sent back so they can see what's up. Not unusual.

Believe me... my Ranger knows this. We live in Colorado, central Colorado. I use cruise control all the time, and love the engine braking feature.

But I'm also nervous as hell in regard to transmission longevity.
Isn’t that what Cancel/Resume is for, switch “off” for a few seconds and just coast ?

Sure that works, but on steep grades then you're riding the brakes.

That's the reason engine braking was invented, to use the engine to slow the vehicle, instead of the brakes.

I saw a video where a guy dismantled the 10 speed transmission, to upgrade some parts. I had the impression if you get bored of being a nuclear scientist, you become a transmission over hauler guy. Looks super complicated. Seems like a no brainer to swap it out.

Most dealerships will replace a transmission, they're not really set up for transmission repairs - that was my experience with a 5 spd auto on a Jeep Commander.
I'm at 24k on my Ranger in 16 months of ownership, no issues whatsover - but since I like this truck a lot I may get an extended warranty just to avoid a big repair bill down the road...if an extended warranty can be had at this point for a reasonable cost.

Watch this tear down video and you can see why they just swap it out. If that were me there would be a bucket of extra parts after the rebuild. lol ?

...And, if they are paying two day's worth of labor for just for the remove-install, there would be added cost and time for a rebuild.

WTH? Does every new XLT have 31 miles on it? I bought my XLT 4x4 and it had 31 miles on it ?
It's about 14 miles to the local race track. So that's 14 miles + (2) 1/4 miles passes + 14 to get back to the plant.

It's Ford's break in procedure... ;)

To add to this, you can't physically do anything with the trans beside put it in Park. Everything else has built in protections that it just won't go into gears where it's dangerous for the trans or engine.

The exception is it WILL go into park no matter what you're doing with it.
it’s late, isn’t P for PASS? Asking for a friend.
