anyone successfully found a way to stop the icon creak?
i checked front bushing/nuf. thats silent, greased, torqued to 119lbs.
not sure where else. is not a squeal so not bushing related, ifs more a groan/creak when i first get in the truck after it sits for a bit. all other times its silent.
im thinking its the second leaf down that has no friction pads. used teflon spray but thats only a temp.
icon said exactly what you would imagine.

I've just gotten used to it, but I rarely drive with the windows down so it's not terribly noticeable. I looked over on Tacoma World( sorry for cussing) and it's definitely common but it seems like there aren't any bullet proof solutions.

What spring option did you go with, I did option 2 with the swapped spring.

Does it have polyurethane bushings? If so grease the sides of the bushing the contact the spring hanger as well.

Don't know if it applies, but we used to unload the leaf and place rubber inner tube between the leafs.

funny you mention that- on my 16 taco with the icon AAL- it did it. its very similar. i made uhmw shims and it was gone. i have a feeling that might work for this. glad you mentioned that!

also- im on option 0, or technically-0 since i pulled the third leaf so i can settle the pack faster. once i hit my sag target ill toss the 3rd leaf back in qnd should put me at ay target height.
smooth ride is an understatement right now though haha. i put a 80lb back of sacrete in the back and it drops 1/2”.

update- it was time to toss leaf #3 back in, so as i did that- cleaned and used lucas red/tacky between the leaves. i could see where the leafs were rubbing. i also added a pin head extender to the drivers side pack as i was never comfortable with the length of the pin going through the shim.
all quiet now.
ive got 200lbs of paver stonedust in the bed to speed the settling.
ground to fender is 39” with half tank.
i messed up and didnt do hub to fender like i normally do, so i gotta stick with that measurement.
what i noticed- the ends of some of thr leaves have burrs and other assorted unfinished ends, probably causing the initial bite/groan of the leaf.

Thay is the joy of cheap parts. I never jad to worry abput it with the Old Man EMU Leafs at all. The only issue i had was the front making noise. How did i know? Unfortunately Old Man EMU didnt have an insulator between the spring and strut. With that said as long as I sprayed the suspension while washing and greasing the bushing regularly(every oil change) I never had an issue.

I'm installing these on my truck in the next few weeks. Do you think its worth applying some grease prior to install on a new set to try and get ahead of it?

Whether you like it or not my experience is with Old Man EMU so if there is information I can give that will apply to that suspension and others then it will be mentioned. Simple as that. Dont like it? Thats ok, you can hit the ignore button on me and you will never see a post from me again.

I installed them in option 1 and greased the bushings for the shackle, I don't have a squeak, I just changed them to option 3, without the friction pads between leaf 1 and 2 (from top down) and still don't have a squeak. I think grease on the shackles is the key. Make sure to grease the outside of the bushings that contact the shackles.

Thank you both. I'm definitely going to look them over and see if any areas look like it would be beneficial to add a little grease along with the bushings.

Do you see a need/benefit to replacing the bushings with the install? Truck only has 3,600 miles on it, so I'm guessing not unless there is a benefit to going with a poly or similar material bushing over stock rubber(I'm guessing)?

I didn't replace mine... I will be doing the OME (sorry to bring it up, as this seems to be a hot subject here) shackles because they use poly bushings and have a zirk fitting to allow greasing.
