phil beat me to it. i was going to say try adjusting up and down and see if it makes a difference. The mustang seat belts were pretty snappy for me. I had to hold it left handed to keep the buckle from smashing into the door panel.
That might be a SuperCrew feature only. It appears to be fixed in the SuperCab.

* runs out to cold garage to verify…..

Yep, it’s a fixed point in the SuperCab. ?

Looks like I could use a little 303 Protectant back there too. ;)

Yep, there's no height adjustment in the Supercab. I suspect it would have helped some if I had it ...
I think part of the problem may be that the belt seems to hang up on the latch handle for the suicide door -- there isn't much space between it and the seat back. I think it may slow the retraction process.

i think the 4g ranger with the opening half doors had adjustable belts. hmm. i bet its a safety thing. needed more solid anchor point in the 5g supercab.

I'm just imagining Jason Bourne exiting a vehicle.

I have a super cab an while I think the seatbelt is comfortable enough it does retract slow. Not always but it does. I've closed the door on it before. I had the dealership look at it while it was in for the seatbelt recall inspection an they said "it fit within standards" or something like that. I must have made an adjustment to how I exit because it's been a while since it's been a problem closing the door. When I open the door the belt is hanging there with slack an it seems to retract as I'm getting in! Delayed reaction I guess.

I've always hit the belt latch with my right hand and just held the belt/latch part with my left hand and just kind of let it "controlled slip" out of my left hand.
Never have just let it go uncontrolled...and yup, I have a Supercab.

I have a SuperCab. I've never really paid attention to how I deal with my seatbelt. I unbuckle before I open the door. Turn off engine, yank the E-Brake, push the button for the seatbelt.

Usually my left arm is still on the steering wheel, so there is no way it's going flying out the door. When I reach for the door handle, the belt is in the crook of my elbow, and I just drop it beside the seat and open the door. Easy peasy.

The passenger belt is always stuck between the rear door handle and the seatback. It CAN pass, but it DOESN'T, somehow.

My seating position seems to make the belt retractor almost worthless -- I have to be mindful of the belt buckle as I exit the truck to keep it from flying out of the cabin and banging against the bodywork. Does anybody have an idea how to help the belt reel back up better? It's my biggest PIA about the truck -- I've bought a paint chip kit because I'm sure I'll eventually find some damage resulting from the crappy design.
I have a belt extension on my driver's side, had them for years in my police car, easier to get on and off in a hurry with bulky belt, but very handy in my Ranger. When I bought my truck they didn't make any other extensions for the remaining belts but aftermarket mfgs do now. As long as you only unhook the oem belt and leave the extension in place my driver's belt retracts super easy and hasn't flopped out the door.
