A number of people on the forum have removed the cowl cover to mouseproof the Ranger's hvac vents. So it has been r&r'ed successfully. Haven't done it myself, but clogged drains under the cowl vent cover are a common cause of cabin leaks in many different cars and trucks.
Pull the cowling cover and see if you can find some entry points. When you say "as-is," what does that mean?
I'd run a Carfax to see if it has an accident history.
I have no idea which engine the '23 Corolla hybrid has, but from what I've read the new Prius has a notable increase in power over previous models. A Motor Trend test timed 0-60 at 7.1 seconds. Our '07 is more like 10 seconds.
I found the steel 6mm bolts holding the valley pan in my old BMW V8 to be badly weakened when I had to reseal the pan (aluminum block). The presence of coolant was a likely factor. I had to drill out a couple that broke. I was very careful torquing down their replacements as I feared the threads...
Toyota's Synergy Drive uses a planetary gear setup in its cvt, and it's also where the electric motor resides. At least, that's the way our '07 Prius works. The car has been in our household for 11 years and 125k miles. My wife loves to drive it, and I love it because it hardly ever needs any...
I may draw some catcalls for this suggestion, but a 2004-2009 Toyota Prius. My wife's car is an '07 that she has driven for 11 years. The Prius is in the top three of the most reliable cars Toyota has ever made. You can get 50 mpg driving around town. It's high roofline means entry and exit is...
I have the basic headlights on my XL ... thinking I may bump up the fogs with LED housings like one of the Diode Dynamics line. That would augment the low beams without dropping a major bundle. Installation would be easier too. Has anybody done that, and did you experience a better field of...
The mention of Vland and attractive price caught my eye in this post. I'd love to have new lights for $400 ... but then I checked out the reviews for Vland lights for the F-150 on Amazon (Ranger lights have no reviews). Thirty percent of reviews are one star. Oof...
Oh, and one more thing: When I was trying to address a persistent chatter from the torque converter clutch in the BMW I came across a product called Lubegard. I'm not a big snake-oil enthusiast, but that stuff is the exception. It does wonders.
I used to drive a 1995 BMW 540i with the zF 5hp30 automatic. It's an interesting trans in that it was one of the early models with fully electronic controls and gradual-engagement torque converter clutch. When I got the car it had about 80k on the original fluid, and it was hunting and...
IMO, the growth of dealership chains parallels the decline in customer service. I'm lucky to have a family-owned dealer nearby that has a great service reputation. If not for their proximity, I probably wouldn't be driving a Ford.
They tend to be at their worst this time of year -- the colonies have usually grown to maximim size and they're slowly starving out as food becomes less plentiful.
