Move South!!! I left the snow at 18. But looking back we were new drivers driving RWD muscle cars in the snow with no ill effects.
Good times. I had some G60-15 snow tires on a set of rally wheels I'd put on my '70 Nova in the winter. Throw a couple sandbags in the trunk... no worries.

Here in Alaska I use Nokian studded all season tires. Our four seasons are early winter, mid winter, late winter and next winter! I have also heard that a tailgate damper improves handling in the snow.
You're probably right! But seeing as there's no snow here I need someone like yourself to test this out. lol ?

I love Winter! I enjoyed my winters in AZ, it was easy living. Being retired, being with the Grandkids and living on a lake, winter is challenging, beautiful, fun and makes you feel alive.

Hmmm, preparing for winter. I need to insulate my damper. Don't want to wait all day for it to open when its below freezing. Maybe a piece of pipe insulation...

Don't be so cheap on protecting a major investment. Do what I did and cut the sleeve off one of these and wrap it around it. Your damper will thank you. ?

Just a friendly service announcement, since I'm not always a dick
this is directed to the new truck owners...make sure you clear the snow and ice from your rear bumper before lowering the tailgate.
It doesn't matter if you're a manly man sans tailgate damper or if you're a wimp, you don't want to damage your paint on the tailgate as it crushes against the stupid frozen stuff
damn rp, i hadnt even thought of that, thanks for the heads up!!!!!

Thank you, I would not have thought of that. Great tip!

my run-in with a cacophony of false parking sensor alarms last time it iced over got forum recommendations for anti-ice coating on the sensors. obviously that stuff is better applied before it ices- an ounce of medicine worth a pound of cure.

we since headed to the coast where it doesnt freeze, so i never got around to trying anything out.

i wonder if a generous wipe with our rainx deicer windshield washer would work, save us buying another bottle to drag around. moot point now, though.
