Very long story short. A critter nibble on my 2019 Ranger wiring harness. 2 months later and $3400 less rich and she's as good as new. Enjoy the pics ??

Wow Drew, sorry to hear that's a lot of damage. I'd make it my life mission to find that little varmint!

Ouch.... What kind of critter?

I feel for you and understand the frustration. Last October mice (rat?) chewed the "Shift Position Sensor" harness on top of the transmission on a SUV of mine. The repair was $620, much less than your bill.

Every few days when it is cool I now use peppermint spray around the front tires and the rear of the engine compartment on the SUV and Ranger which are not garaged. Fingers crossed that it doesn't happen again.

Did you check with your insurance company to see if your comprehensive coverage would have covered this?

WOW I trap and release squirrels to a park miles away. Well almost. I have trapped 30+ squirrels in my yard the last two years. Some how the last 5 committed suicide. LOL They dig all over my flower beds right next to all my roses. They like ritz crackers and peanut butter. Works great. A coworker had his Jeep Grand Cherokee's wiring riped like yours Drew. It didn't cost as much to fix and was an older vehicle. That totally sucks.

Do you park inside or outside? Does the truck sit for days at a time? I’m curious about the circumstances that leads to this.

A lot of modern vehicles use a soy based wiring jacket that is like ambrosia to varmints.

It started out as a way to be eco friendly but has turned out to be cheaper than petroleum based wiring covers so it got more popular.

Get either a cat or THIS
