I found someone selling their Tremor skid plates for less than 200. I have some sliders being custom fabbed so I probably wouldn't pull the trigger on the RCI skids I have my eye on at $1000 until next season.

I did see a thread of someone throwing a tantrum over the tremors skid plates... but they have also been banned from the forum so I don't know if I trust what they were complaining about.

Are those skid plates reliable enough? We typically do 4-7 out of 10 trails depending on which site's rating system you are looking at.

I have waited this long to add protection to the truck without incident, but I want to cover my ass before something preventable could happen.

Thanks ?

Mine held up pretty well with some moderate abuse. Had to bang them back in to shape a couple of times but nothing major. Have switched to RCI skids since because I found a used set at a good price. But haven’t beat on them to much yet.

They are thin. I thought they were decent enough but almost blew my radiator intake on a hard whoop hit in Glamis. Luckily just the plastic shroud broke and not the connection itself. Was all the excuse I needed to upgrade to the RCI aluminum full skid package. Steel probably is best, but the aluminum is far better than the stock plate on the Tremor and FX4. I take the kids out to the desert with me so I want to minimize getting stranded as best possible.

Agreed that they are somewhat thin and dent easily. I believe they are the same as the FX4 Skid just painted black. They should be fine for forest road/light off road or careful moderate offroad, but definitely wouldn't trust dropping it on any rocks (not that they were ever intended for that!)

They don't cover the Trans pan or the transfer case or even the oil pan very well.

RCI also doesn't make sliders for the Ranger yet, that I can find. You pimpin a Bronco or something?

After heavy abuse I can confirm not a quality item the best part about them is they are so thin that I just hammer the dents back out definitely will be fabbing up a new set shortly

Yeah, the tremor skid plates are good for a little bump. After one impact I switched to the rci skid plates and a custom fab got rock sliders.

Good set of sliders run around a grand...

RCI just started making them for Tacoma's and a few other models, figured that's what you were alluding to ??‍♂

Then when I said RCI doesn't make SLIDERS for the Ranger you kept linking their skid packages, what was I to think ?

Yea I see where the confusion came from, no one had mentioned RCI sliders, just the skids. My sliders are being custom made.

White knuckle sliders with rci skids is where I'm headed. Need to get my front receiver weleded up and installed first. It's been really hot and haven't wanted to bother my buddy who is a welder.
