I feel the same about the prop rod. I do love the struts but having the prop rod on my Jeep wasn't a big deal. Even when wiring up my lights it never got in the way. At least the mounts are there so if you want to add them it'll be easy. Now you can take that money and spend it on something else. ?
Oh, I am going to get the struts and install them. Just means the first three upgrades will be struts, or is it dampers? :lipssealed:

I stumbled on this thread.

My 2022 appears to have the ball end mounts present. Does this look like the mounts for the pre-2022 struts?

Does this mean all I need are struts from earlier models?

Sorry for being such a Ford newbie.

Short people with lifted trucks gonna hate. Heck I am 6'1" and the F-150 I had was still pretty high, glad it had hood struts.

No such mounts or provisions for my '22.

Having worked on an assembly line when I was in college (graveyard shift no less), I can definitely understand how some trucks might get bits that have been deleted from the BOM... :)

Not the end of the world, but I'd be disappointed if I didn't get hood lift cylinders.

my life's been full of disappointments.

i stopped worrying about the negative things and started to note only the positives.

such as my 2019 XLT has so many more items than a 2022....I feel good about that.
including mileage

Might keep an eye on www.redlinetuning.com.

That is where I got my Bronco hood struts/mounts from as it was sans the damper, but pro prop rod.

or if you want it that bad, maybe a Bronco setup can be retrofitted to a Ranger?

yeah, my only complaint is how short the prop rod is... These hoods don't open that far imo.

yeah, my only complaint is how short the prop rod is... These hoods don't open that far imo.
They could have placed it better no doubt. My wife's Hylander's rod pivots from the side and is clipped closed near where the hood latch is located. When you open the hood and set the rod, the hood is held open maybe 15-20 degrees more in arc, while the rod itself isn't a lot longer than my Ranger's.

It will be interesting to see what the struts do to how far open my hood is, versus the rod.

As far as I know the hoods are still aluminum. It's only the front fenders that changed from aluminum to steel. Ford has been using aluminum hoods on all of their vehicles for years.
Just did the magnet test on my late built 21. Steel fenders, aluminum hood.

So, funny story here! After I got my 2022 in, I removed the hood struts from my 2019 (that I was trading in). They snap in and fit perfectly in the 2022. The problem is that the 2019 does not have the mounting hole stamped into the hood at all. LOL so I had to quickly switch it back!

So to make this long story short, if you have remaining Ford Pass points, I would just order replacement hood struts for a 2019 Ranger and you should be good to go for "free".

I just took delivery of my 2022 and the prop rod works fine. Personally I am not going to mess with any kits.
I agree, it is a return to simpler times. The early “small” pickups all had prop rods and we managed. The first one I remember was on a Datsun pickup circa 1969.

I remember because it was the first one I had ever seen and I started to close the hood without folding the prop rod back into the lower position. The owner got “bent”.
