Yes I did read that. I think most know I keep mine on a maintainer most every day so the battery is fully charged. SCT just called me and the Tech guy said there could be a glitch in the code from Unleashed because it's such a new vehicle and the tune was written before. He did have me scroll and check and it still says "Unpaired". He said it sounds like when the tune failed and I went back it automatically went loaded itself back to stock. He wanted me to try it again but no way I'm doing it now. If I mess this up and we can't go away Friday Annie will....Well, let's just say you all will never see me again!

He did write up a ticket and emailed me and told me to message him once we're back. He'll go through it with me on the phone in case there's another issue and even if it fails to start he can write another stock tune and send it to me. SCT has been super to deal with!!

I have been using the same SCT hand held device since 2012 and started getting tunes from Unleashed in 2013. Never had an issue. Can't say the same with the FP branded Livernois device. I had programing issues three times which required me to go through a recovery procedure each time before I successfully installing the FP tune.

The thing I find the most amazing with Torrie at Unleashed is how fast he responds. I have emailed him on a Sunday night and got a response within an hour or so. I have no explanation for him not getting back to you.
Yeah, that's why I'm shocked they're taking so long if at all to respond. I know it was a long holiday weekend but even this morning it was several hours before I got any response after buying the tune and unlocking the device. Not a huge deal but when your trucks dead and there's no response I was in panic mode lol

If you've never gotten a response from Torrie, where'd you get your tune.

For me the process went.

Open SCT device, power it up. Get the serial number so that Torrie can upload tunes to it.

Email Torrie my truck info, including ECM strategy, and told him what I wanted. Then he uploaded my tunes to the device. Then I could install tunes to the truck.

Sounds to me like you're trying to install Doc's tune. From '19 to '23 and considering g the ECM strategies I'd bet that's the problem.

Why would you be upset at Torrie? Did you ever purchase tunes from him on his website? Far as I can see the only thing he's guilty of right now is not responding quickly to an email address he doesn't recognize as a customer.
No I cleared out all Docs stuff when I unlocked the device. It shows my Vin and info there now. I followed the same procedure you described and got that error message. He recognized my email as he sent an email after I purchased it saying "Received, Thank You"

Why am I upset at Torrie? Because 3 hours later after emailing him my trucks dead and I got nothing! I know you and you'd be fuming too. :explode:

Ok, I must've missed all that.

If that's the case I'd be upset as well. Perhaps he hasn't responded because he's trying to figure it out?

I've had quick responses from him in the past. I'm sure you'll get this resolved rather quickly.

Knowing that he tunes accross various platforms and we just got done with the first 3 day weekend of the summer I bet he's pretty swamped.

I've considered buying used tuner modules in the past but never have out of fear that something like this would happen.

Yeah it could be still a glitch in there somewhere. The Tech guy from SCT tends to think if I try it again it'll be fine but I'm not playing those cards tonight. lol It would be nice if they'd send an email just saying we're busy bit we're working on it as fast as we can or anything. Being left in the dark isn't a good feeling but at least it's running and the SCT tech says there's nothing to worry about now it's back to stock.

Docs tune should've been cleared out when I unlocked it and entered my info and it would still show under programing I think? It's just one of those rare case that only happens to a few and I'm the lucky one today.

Yeah, it's out of character for sure.

Not sure on the old tune being deleted. I think your understanding is correct but I'm really not sure.

Crossing my fingers for you.

Hoping for the best for you AZ. My tuner was used as well and it went well. It's definitely a different process from Livernois so I was thrown off.

The SCT downloads the stock file the first time you flash another tune whereas the Livernois has a whole separate process. I do like the WiFi connectivity though.

Thanks CO! I trust the SCT tech in what he says but I just can't take a chance right now in something happening. If I mess this up and we can't go on this trip I'm in big trouble. Annie might only be 5'0" but man when she gets mad look out.

That's most likely what happened but it was weird how it killed everything. I mean the truck was dead not even a click. I agree the wifi is sweet and makes it or should make easier. lol

Wow. I hope you get this sorted out. I know you’ll love the tune!

Like others I’ve had the same SCT tuner since 2013. Used it for 2 Focus ST’s and now my ranger. All tuned by Unleashed.

I've been doing a few things to get ready for Friday and I did finally get an email. She (Leslie) sent me this same info. Then another saying they've never encountered this and we'll have to work on it once I'm back. I'll have to think about it because right now I'm to nervous it'll mess something up. Thanks for all the replies and it's just my dumb luck I'm the lucky one it happened to.

This is what I was getting when I was having all the issues with my Livernois tuner.

When the truck ends up like that it makes you reconsider ever touching a tuner again.

My issue was apparently a problem with my base tune as after they updated that everything worked.

Hopefully your will be a good outcome as well.

Nothing boosts your confidence like a $40k dead white brick in the driveway.

Bingo! My confidence level is pretty low right now. But I know many are and have used their tunes (just like yours with LMS) with great results. I'm wondering if the '23 had anything different written into it? Everyone running this tune is '19-'22 but again I'm just guessing here and pretty much have no clue what I'm babbling about right now. lol

About 100 things went through my head when it wouldn't start. But telling Annie it was dead and we can't go on our trip scared me the most.:surprised: Thanks God it ended up re-flashing itself back to stock.:whew:

FWIW, there are two ways to clear all tunes from memory in a SCT device;

1. Do a factory reset on the device. This erases every thing in memory and sets all device parameters back to the way it left the factory. When I purchased my SCT X4 from Steeda with a tune for my Focus ST, Steeda had locked out the ability to use the canned tunes that come from SCT or make any changes like tire size, idle rpm, etc. I copied the Steeda tune off, factory reset the device, then copied the Steeda tune back onto the device. This gave me full access to the SCT tunes and the parameters that you can modify.
2. Use the SCT Updater Software and individually delete or move the tunes to your PC.

Unlocking is simply unpairing the device from another vehicle it does not erase tune files that are stored.

This is a whole different tuner than the LMS one but wouldn't his tune show under Program Vehicle on the list of tunes? The only two that show are my stock file 23 Ranger and 93 performance tune.

If not I would've thought both SCT and Unleashed would've told me about removing them seeing as they both knew this was a used tuner. Leslie was going to get in touch with SCT today and when she emailed me back I'll copy what you wrote and ask her about it. Thx!!
