That spring one looks nice. I had no trouble getting my walmart one to grip to the filter, as you rotate counter clockwise, it seemed to just naturally grip it without much fuss.
Yours probably works better, mine was really loose and floppy (talking about the filter wrench here).

Hello everyone,

I'm a new owner of a 2019 Ford Ranger 5G and am looking for advice on what type of engine oil to use for my car. I looked through the owner's manual, but also wanted to get recommendations from those who have direct experience with this model one of my friends suggested me to use a high performance 5W-30 but i'm not sure if it's a good oil for my car engine, i'm not going to use it without consulting you first. I want to make sure of using the engine oil that best suits its needs so if you have a Ford Ranger 5G or have knowledge of the types of engine oil that are compatible with this model, I would appreciate any suggestions or advice you may have to offer. I want to make sure I take care of my car in the best way possible, and choosing the right motor oil is an important step in that process.
Thank you in advance for your help and advice. I look forward to reading your responses and making an informed decision on choosing engine oil for my Ford Ranger 5G.
41,000 miles, original owner, 2019, XLT.
MOBIL 1 synthetic and M1, 102-A, oil filter. 5-30, cold weather. Sometimes 10-30 hot weather. Mostly 5-30, however. 5-6,000 mile changes.
Tow, 4,000, Smokies-flatlands.
Knock on wood, so far, so good!!!
I drive regularly as I drove stupid in the 60’s!!
Good luck!!!

This is a perfect example of an AI generated question.

Btw, I use full synthetic. Any top tier brand will do. Motorcraft oil filter.

Why the "Not Fram" point? Do you have a bad experience with them? Anecdotally, I've used them for 10 years with no trouble.
Good question. It is veiled in ancient history. Back in the 60’s; 1960’s not 1860’s, Fram got a reputation for filters collapsing, starving engines for oil, and I quit using them. Of course that was slightly before the internet existed, shoot we used to use decks of cards to program computers back then. To be honest it has been at least 50 years since I thought about using one, and maybe it is time to revisit the issue. The only oil filter problem that I’ve encountered in my experience with changing oil was with a Ford filter on my ‘22 Ranger, which prompted me changing to WIX filters. Even that issue could have been a one in a million occurrence, but at my age problems come to be even less acceptable than when I was younger.

My whole life I have used Mobile One and have had awesome results, because I am hard on a vehicle, I think it says good for 50k on the front of the jug, but I can go one better LOL I got 72k and then some lady hit me and totaled it, I do recommend changing the filter and adding a Qt. every 20k
this truck my first change I went with Amsoil at the F***ING Nagging of a friend that thinks amsoil is better than oil, and it is priced like its sold by NASA! I will look at the oil at 50k and see what it looks like, but from here on out I will go back with Mobile One aint no one got $150 to blow on an oil change!

what is the best oil to use in a 2021 Ford Ranger

The best oil for your 2021 Ford Ranger depends on several factors, including the engine type, climate you live in, and your driving habits. However, here are some general recommendations:
  • Engine type: The 2021 Ford Ranger comes with two engine options: a 2.3L EcoBoost I4 engine and a 2.7L EcoBoost V6 engine.
    • For the 2.3L EcoBoost I4 engine, Ford recommends using a 5W-30 synthetic oil that meets the ILSAC GF-21 specification. This is the standard oil for most gasoline engines and is suitable for most driving conditions.
    • For the 2.7L EcoBoost V6 engine, Ford recommends using a 0W-20 full synthetic oil that meets the ILSAC GF-6A specification. This is a newer, lower-viscosity oil that is designed to improve fuel economy.
  • Climate: If you live in a cold climate, you may want to use a lower-viscosity oil, such as a 0W-20 or 5W-20 oil. This will help your engine to start more easily in cold weather. If you live in a hot climate, you may want to use a higher-viscosity oil, such as a 5W-30 or 10W-30 oil. This will help to protect your engine from wear and tear in hot weather.
  • Driving habits: If you do a lot of stop-and-go driving or towing, you may want to use a full synthetic oil. Synthetic oils are more resistant to breakdown than conventional oils, which can help to protect your engine in these demanding conditions.
Here are some specific oil recommendations for the 2021 Ford Ranger:
  • Motorcraft® Full Synthetic 5W-30 Motor Oil: This is the oil that Ford recommends for most 2021 Ford Rangers. It is a full synthetic oil that meets the ILSAC GF-21 specification and is suitable for most driving conditions.

Motorcraft® Full Synthetic 5W30 Motor Oil
  • Mobil 1 0W-20 Full Synthetic Motor Oil: This is a good option for drivers who live in cold climates or who do a lot of stop-and-go driving. It is a full synthetic oil that meets the ILSAC GF-6A specification and is designed for improved fuel economy.

  • Castrol Edge 5W-30 Advanced Full Synthetic Motor Oil: This is another good option for drivers who want a high-performance oil. It is a full synthetic oil that meets the ILSAC GF-6A specification and is designed for added protection against wear and tear.

Ultimately, the best oil for your 2021 Ford Ranger is the oil that meets the specifications recommended by Ford and is suitable for your specific driving conditions. It is always a good idea to consult your owner's manual for the specific oil recommendations for your vehicle.

I use Valvoline Advanced Synthetic and a Motorcraft filter. Change every 5000 miles.
Valvoline, Pennzoil Platinum, Mobil 1, will all be fine.
I replaced the screws in the fender flap with powerful magnets from Amazon so I can just peel the flap back, cut my oil change time in half.

I use Havoline LifeLong 5W30 in the 6qt box from Walmart.

Covers the Ford spec and the new Dexos Gen3 as well. 5k Changes.

I like that I don't have to screw around with a 5qt bottle and an extra qt.

I have found Pennzoil Full Synthetic 5W-30in the internet but i doubt it would be a good oil for my car engine.
It's a truck, not a car.

And I was about to answer this post with what I use. Didn't Microsoft or someone have an AI called Wattson
Actually IBM's AI is called Watson, after the founder of the company, T J Watson.
