Ya i just have to modify how i get in. I get in kinda weird because I hurt my back in the military. I put my right foot on the running board(after market round bars) and then put my left leg forward up on the door jam (i think that's what you call it, its where it says ranger) and swing my right leg behind my left as I pull my body in. It's after I plant my left leg on the door jam and I am pulling my body in my left knee hits the bottom of the knob pushing it counter clockwise.
It takes courage to live with limitations and keep a good attitude.
Each of us must learn to live with a "new normal" occasionally or at least eventually, and must find unique solutions to cope.
I respect your courage and perseverance!

I'm sure you will learn to avoid the switch in time...
I once had a 4DR Tempo, and for two weeks after purchase I struck my spine on the B pillar every time I got into the car.
After that, my body learned to avoid it and the problem went away.

Thank you for your kind words! I have been getting in the truck in a similar way I just make sure to be aware of where my knee is as I do it and I can avoid it pretty easily. I find if I step back farther on the step it tends to help. I might also look for some steps that sit a bit lower than my current ones. Right now I have the ebay specials that cost 130 bucks. They look nice but I'd prefer them a bit lower. The brackets are steel so maybe I could weld extensions on them.

Must be either a seat position thing... or maybe a SuperCab vs SuperCrew thing? I'm 6'0 tall and have yet to experience this issue on our SuperCab.

I think it's just dependent on how you get in. Seat position probably factors in also. I found that my post on page 6 is wrong. It's when my left leg is on the running board and I bring my right leg in that my right knee hits the switch. I step forward far on the running board so it's easy for my knee to hit it but I'm aware of it now and can prevent myself from doing it. Doesn't really matter anyway as even if the lights are on the on setting they shut off after like 10 minutes of the truck being off. Not like older vehicles that will drain the battery dead.

I have been having this problem where I was accusing my husband of leaving the lights on in the truck! He swears he didn't, he's taller than me so now I now how it's happening. I thought the switch was moving on it's own or something? At least now he knows to check the lights when he gets out of the truck. Thanks ya'll!

I don't hit anything getting in. Or out

I manually turn on my lights when towing.

I too had this problem at first. At 6'3", I had to lower my seat height to it's lowest postion and with out saying at far back as possible.
I have apparently adjusted to the switch not being swiped with my knee.

My wifes daughter drives sometimes my wifes car when they go out. The daughter thinks that she is a better driver LOL. She always turns off the headlight switch manually even though we have told her that it turns off automatically, then my wife is driving around with her headlights off because she thinks that they come on automatically. Moral: It is just about impossible to make a vehicle totally idiot proof.

Happened all the time in my former Colorado ZR2 on both the headlights and 4wd knobs. Hadn't had the issue with the Ranger yet.
