  1. Drive shaft replacement issues and other nightmares

Sorry I missed this comment. Other than easy highway miles it's just back country roads. Thinking about it I don't think I've ever taken this truck off road. Lots of 4x4 snow in the winter
  2. 21 FX4 Rear Diff Whine Solutions?

I just spent 5 grand replacing the entire rear end and drive shaft in my 2019. Mechanic said it's common with the Rangers. Count yourself lucky mine went out at 73000 and it's mostly easy highway miles. I found low mileage complete axles on ebay for way cheaper than what I paid but with my...
  3. Drive shaft replacement issues and other nightmares

Yeah it would. I think the center shaft bearing being bad caused the rear end to go. They said the whole thing needs to be rebuilt. This is the downside of not being able to do my own work anymore I don't get a glimpse of the damages and I'm sure I could have done it myself for half the cost if...
  4. Drive shaft replacement issues and other nightmares

Yeah you're right upon looking at them there's definitely not I've added grease fittings to some other types of hubs but yeah this design won't work for that now that I'm looking at it. I do have a tube of super expensive bearing grease used in the crank bearings for rotax engines in skidoo...
  5. Drive shaft replacement issues and other nightmares

End result the entire rear end is shot. Looking at almost 5k in repairs. 73k almost exclusively driven on road/highway. Wheel bearing at 50k now this I'm not impressed with this truck. As a mechanic myself I'm meticulous with it always changing the oil and keeping up on maintenance and already...
  6. Drive shaft replacement issues and other nightmares

Maybe I didn't clarify but it was a complete driveshaft replacement. I wouldn't bother trying to go the other route and I haven't even found where you can order just the center bearing. Dealer recommends complete shaft replacement
  7. Drive shaft replacement issues and other nightmares

Yeah of course I'm thinking longevity with new ones. A simple grease fitting with a weep hole seems to me it would result in longer use. My first one went out at 50k that's just unacceptable.
  8. Drive shaft replacement issues and other nightmares

So Ford dealer says the driveshaft is installed correctly but he says the pinion seal is leaking and thinks the vibration is coming from the rear end. I'm guessing the center bearing being blown out caused the rear-end to have issues. Will hear more later today. Oh also I asked one of the other...
  9. Drive shaft replacement issues and other nightmares

Lots of good stuff thanks to all! That's why I love this site it can be very hard to find a forum with so many knowledgeable members. I wish I could just get rid of that center bearing all together the truck is short enough it really doesn't need it. Also kinda terrible it was totally beat at 65...
  10. Drive shaft replacement issues and other nightmares

Howdy... I've found it's about impossible to find a good mechanic these days. Hurt my back so I can't do my own work anymore. One shop replaced my brakes and the rear calipers were both dragging. Brand new calipers too. Anyway the center bearing for the drive shaft was shot on my 2019 ranger and...
  11. FordPass is watching us?

    totally agree.
  12. Fuel in oil

i know this is an old post but this is so true! They much prefer non-warranty work which they make more money on! Almost all dealerships will try using any excuse possible to deny warranty work.
  13. 589|FAB's XL Super Cab Build

    that is a badass truck!
  14. Is the 2.3 EcoBoost Dual Injection? (PI and DI)

I assumed it would have a factory separator if not dual injection thanks for that it puts me at ease. That with good oil and frequent oil changes should prevent most build up/blow by
  15. Hankook Dynapro ATM discontinued?

In my opinion the DynaPro ATM is a great tire in that it comes on the truck stock but I don't think I would ever buy a pair for replacement. Most vehicles come with tires that aren't even close to as good as the ATM.
  16. Is the 2.3 EcoBoost Dual Injection? (PI and DI)

I know the V6 EcoBoost is both port injection and direct injection to help keep the intake runner and valve clean from build up. I haven't tore down a 2.3L yet and I'm wondering if anyone here knows if the Ranger's 2.3L has dual injection i.e. port and direct injection? If so these companies...
  17. Hankook Dynapro ATM discontinued?

that's what i have i love those rims. mine has almost 15,000 miles and the tires are slightly worn. I think they will last a really long time they seem to be a pretty hard rubber. not good for traction but good for wear rates. However I live in the hell that is tug hill ny where we get massive...
  18. Water/Meth Injection Kit

I agree methanol is great for racing but everyday drivers? no thanks. I'm a powersports mechanic and I have seen what methanol can do to aluminum and to rubber hoses/seals ect... Most racers that use it run gas or something through the system after every race to prevent corrosion. As for...
  19. Hankook Dynapro ATM discontinued?

Yeah, I don't like those rims much either really. A lot of ppl seem to like the colored pockets. I have the PDV like rims i think they are called I really like those where many ppl dont because I guess the chrome look isn't in these days. I'll take my rims and chrome bumpers over the sport...
