It would go a long way to clarify what is happening if the original poster could take a video of how they're getting into the Ranger? I'm 6' and when I'm seated, my knees are at least 8" away from this switch...

Is anyone else SUPER FRUSTRATED by the location of the headlight switch. Nearly every time I get in and out of my truck my Knee hits it and I turn on my headlights!!

I hope they move it somewhere else!
You're not alone. Wife does this all the time!

5'10" and have not hit the headlight control at all. I am really curious to see how people are getting into their trucks now.

i was doing it often when i first got the truck. once conscious of it, i guess i’ve adjusted the way i enter/exit as it doesn’t happen anymore. a much worse issue is that i’ve engaged the electronic locking rear differential twice now without noticing the light on the dash, just by putting my phone in to the storage in front of the shifter. there’s no ‘ding’ warning, but there IS a really harsh warning once you start a turn on dry pavement. that button should’ve been made to hold for a few seconds to engage, like when you reset the mileage counter.

I have bumped the switch with my knee several times. If I don't catch the chime before shutting the door I usually notice that the head & fog light lamps lit on the dashboard.
First few times it happened it was a complete mystery as to how the switch moved, I bumped it with my right knee when I entered, Just the odd way I was throwing my right foot into the cab caused it.
Now I am aware where my foot is upon entry and I completely miss the switch now, btw I am 5' 11" tall in my bare feet... :)

Above is my initial post, I would place my right foot just past the sill plate, use an underhand grab of the top of the steering wheel and pull myself onto the drivers seat and slide into the cab. As I slid across the seat I would drag my foot (and leg) further into the truck. Where I placed my foot forced my knee to brush the light switch as it passed under the steering column, I didn't even realize I touched the light switch until I heard the chime.

Now I consciously place my foot further into the cab and closer to the seat. Knee no longer comes close to the switch...

Hmmm...without pictures I can only imagine that you're seat is very up close to the steering wheel...again, it would help greatly to take one pic...

I'm not a picture kind of guy but my seat is positioned so I can stretch both legs comfortably when driving, one of the things I like about the Ranger over the Explorer I traded...

LMAO!!! I thought my truck was possessed as the switch would be off when I know damn well I always leave it on auto! It's been driving me crazy. I don't know why I haven't thought about my knee hitting it but that must be what's happening. I didn't really mind the actual position until you mentioned this and I realized what's happening. Even if it was made so you had to pull out to turn it that would be good enough for me. Or make it a tighter and stiffer click so that the knee wouldn't change the position.
As for the mirror switch I don't mind not being able to see it because I won't play with it unless I'm stopped. The window switches bothered me at first because they weren't forward enough but I seem to have gotten used to that.
The one thing that really bothers me is with my Fusion I could change the heater and a/c temp with the right dash screen and steering wheel buttons but the Ranger doesn't even have a climate option on the right dash screen. It makes driving more dangerous as I then need to look down at the main screen and find the +/- temp button. I'm curious if that Forscan device could put a climate section on the dash screen.

Well, see that's why the knee hitting it never occurred to me because I'm only 5'9" but the switch definitely changes because I always leave it on auto so much so that I'm considering gluing it there and somehow every few days it ends up in a different random position. If it's not my knee than IDK what it is...
