After 4 old Toyota trucks I bought my, then, brand new Ranger in 2019. Being a proud owner of a fancy new pickup I had to show my Grandpa.
He shared a piece of advice with me I'd like to share with this community. He told me, "When you get your new pick up home the first thing you gotta do is take a 2x4 and hit the side of it real hard." I laughed and ask why? He said, "Because if you don't you'll never be able to enjoy the truck and you'll spend too much time worrying about keeping it nice."
He was right! I never did the 2x4 trick, but after a few dents in the bed from loading and unloading I found that I'm more carefree and simply enjoy the truck for what it is.

Paw Paws know best. After the first boo boo my Ranger was ready to go. And of course I'm the one that put the boo boo there. :)

"That's the reason we don't have nice things."

edit
My father was a GC. He never wanted anybody to load material into his truck over the side. He didn't want the belt buckle scratches. It made a difference.

My son pointed out a small scratch on the rear quarter panel of my truck. I smiled at him and laughed. Perplexed he said, dad I though you would go ballistic when I told you that but instead you laughed. What’s up with that? I replied, son, now I really get to enjoy my ride now that that is over! ?

Minor dents and scratches don’t bother me. I have a very good local body shop that fixes them as they occur. It’s a regular maintenance item.

IDK but I work out of my truck everyday and take it off road and have had it 22 months now and it's still spotless. I don't go into real scrubby off road areas and when I go to any store I park as far out as possible away from everyone else. Sure it's a truck and not a Ferrari but I still like to take care of my stuff and have it look nice.

My Ranger was delivered to me at work on a Friday afternoon. Drove it home and parked it in the garage. Spent Saturday cleaning up my old vehicle and didn't go near the Ranger. Sunday morning went into the garage and my mountain bike somehow fell against the drivers door of my truck putting a small dent in it. I swore :curse:- then laughed:LOL:, got my first dent in under 20 kms! It is what it is

You guys know you can use a tool and take care of it too, right?

1987 Ranger. Used. Used well. Tossed in tools, trash, plywood (when i could afford it LOL), gravel, whatever the 1200lb payload could take.

But Nobody, and i mean NOBODY was to load something over the side of my truck. Original paint, original bed mat.

I take care of my tools, and they serve me well.

I should have started that rule of no side loading when I first picked up mine... oh well. Your truck looks great! I've always enjoyed that color combo.
