I am posting this here as there are more views here than in the suspension/chassis section, mods if that's not cool kick me to the other category.
Okay, I was out to find a set of springs that would lower the back of my Tremor (I know, be nice, I have a bad back and need the tailgate lower for loading a heavy ebike)
I found in looking at global ranger pics that they look more level than the US models, so I purchased a set from the UK, they were pretty cheap and shipping was even cheaper.
They are a 5 leaf spring (Tremor has 4 leafs) they are quite different than the Tremor springs, the UK lower leafs are longer, and all the UK leafs are thinner, 1-2mm per leaf, I know that longer lower leafs help with axle wrap up, which should help dial out driveline vibrations.
So from a design standpoint, which one should be softer? or what would be the differences in spring characteristics between the two designs?
From the seat of the pants, the UK spring is softer over bumps, especially speed bumps, it's softer than the front, but I'm not sure on the highway high speed bumps, expansion joints and such, may be firmer there, it feels really good in and out of driveways, less rocking than the Tremor springs.
I don't know how the off road performance is on either spring unfortunately. (waiting for the rock guard to be laid on the truck)
I did take out the 5th leaf, that did lower the back, but only 1/2 inch, (tailgate 1") so my effort was a failure, so now I will get a pair de-arced a couple of inches.
It is easy to change springs, but not easy enough to do back to back comparisons, so I thought I would ask if anyone really knew leaf spring design and would chime in.
I will probably send out the UK springs for de-arcing and reinstall the Tremor which give me a better chance to compare the two.
The pics are not great, but notice how different they are, look at the 4th leaf, the UK one is really curved downward. for identification UK spring has the longer bottom (4th) spring.
If anybody wants some; https://www.ebay.com/itm/114729135896 they have 20+ sets and are very cool to deal with.
Not to mention how stupid cheap shipping is!!

Do the new ones have the same tow and load rating or the stock ones?

As a note the UK seller informed me that the springs were pulled from newer trucks that were converted to air bags, the springs I got looked basically new, with just a few signs of removal, minor scratches mostly.

I wish I knew, my springs are the tow package springs.

Google says the UK Wildtrak can tow 3500 kg. And haul 1056 kg.

If my calculations, and google, are correct that's greater than ours.

I should have added, my driveline numbers were as follows, using the front shaft as zero.
rear shaft before 0.8 down, after 0.4 down
differential stayed at 1.5 down.
The 0.4 change comes from the lower height.
No vibration, but my truck did not have any before.

I meant to ask the seller what the exact application was, it sounds like a fleet deal for sure.

They ride very much like a Tremor spring, I tried to give a comparison as best as I could.

Thanks for posting this, do you have any before and after shots of your truck with the spring change? Also, is an alignment required with the new springs?

The height change is only about 1/2 inch, no alignment needed.

I was hoping someone knew the performance differences between a spring with long thinner leafs and a spring with short thicker leafs, I know Jeff at Deavers has insight into this, he made a custom 1.5 drop pack for my Raptor, he's just so busy I hate to bug him and he is also one of those people who look at me like I'm crazy for wanting to lower the back of a 4x4 truck.

Us short fat old guys are always interested in lowering the back of a 4X4 to make getting in the bed easier an getting access to the stuff in there easier.

Both the longer secondary leafs, and thinner leafs will reduce the totL spring rate so I would think the global springs will offer a softer ride.

The crazy bit are the inverted overload springs, almost seems that the spring is designed to be bent backwards at full load.
