I’m necrobumping an old thread here because my wheels are turning on gears.

can anyone confirm if the new bronco has the same axels as our truck? If so, imagine gearing is like right around the corner right? Looking at the plethora of choices on the bronco I think 4.27 gears with 33s on the ranger would seriously rip. I will probably buy my tires first and see. I go back and forth constantly at this point on tire sizes because I have warranty concerns. Basically this is an expensive truck and I would hate to blow a turbo or transmission or something and have to eat the repair cost.

I very nearly put the same SST Pro Cooper tires on my truck in a 305/55/20 but when I saw them I just thought they were to chunky so ended up with Bridgestone KO2's instead
Do they call them Bridgestone in Thailand? They are BFGoodrich in the USA.

I agree with Stangman570.

I’ve talked with a handful of people mechanics at Ford and different aftermarket companies. The consensus is “eco-boost drivetrain just doesn’t care” what you throw at it.

check out the “Fun Runner” 2019 Ranger build. They turned the Ranger into a baja truck. They are running 37” Nitto ridge grapplers.

Vaughn Gittin’s Ranger

If you find a new gears and out them in, let us know how it goes. It’s very costly right now to regear because there really aren’t any options unless yo here hoping custom.

Let us know what you decide on. It’s always cool to see what mods people do.
I saw this and couldn’t believe they were running 37s on 3.73 gears and I was right.

the build here is running 5.43 gears but since that is probably close to a six figure build I’m sure it’s all custom. I doubt we will see affordable gearing unless bronco gears are going to be compatible.

I wouldn’t worry about the 33‘s. Most of us doing basic upgrades are going to something in that size. As a matter of fact the Ford dealership I bought my truck at in Gilbert Arizona(SanTan Ford)will do all the upgrades for you, lift kits, tires etc. The eco-boost transmission will take whatever you throw at it.
I run Nitto ridge grappler‘s 285’s and Livernois tune and the truck is a little beast! That 2.3L and eco boost tranny have no problems at all.

If you read the legalese which comes with Ford's Performance Tune, there is a limit to the tires you can run, if you wish to maintain the warranty coverage. I suspect, no one cares! But I do!

I am of the opinion that way too many folks outfit their ride with big tires, because they look macho, not because they off-road their Rangers. Unfortunately, too many forget about the hazards of doing so.

Over-sized tires often result in poor overall handling, and can actually can be dangerous in critical maneuvering situations. In fact, the NHTSA has done several studies about this very subject. Do most owners care? I suspect not, or the after-market, big-rim, big-tire industry wouldn't be so prevalent!

I don’t know what the tire size threshold for voiding a warranty is. But I can tell you that SanTan Ford where I bought my truck has no problems putting 33s on Rangers.
It’s the only dealership I know in Phoenix area that has a full aftermarket department that will install complete suspension lifts, wheels and tires etc..in factyou can buy the brand new truck already modded out so you don’t have to do it and it stays under warranty.

Most owners who can turn a wrench and fix their rides no matter the issue really doesn't give two shits about the factory warranty. I can't tell you the last time a Ford tech has touched any of my Stangs or Ranger. Shity service and rarely fix things right the first time round. Now let's move on to your opinion that most of us "outfit our rides with big tyres to look macho"... boy please, you have no idea when it comes to off roading do you??? Because if you did you would immediately understand the benefit of them thare big ole tyres. Let me provide a few examples for your lack of off roading. 1. Better ground clearance. 2. Wider contact patch, this really helps with additional traction in mud. 3. Bigger tires are easier to air down to give more of a contact patch for sand. Just a few examples of the benefit of them biguns that you speculate that most of us don't use. Have you really been through these forums and actually see how many of us here on 5G actually off road?? More than your opinion allows for sure. Now let's address NHTSA that you brought up. Yes of course if the tires are extremely tall to the point the vehicle becomes top heavy then yes. However, most of the gear heads on here with years of knowledge and experience know how to match our tires to the suspension. Nothing wrong with a slight taller and wider tire on the hiway. 1. Remember wider contact patch adds to stability and handling. Increases stopping distance on wet pavement as wider tires have more sipes than slimmer tires, etc. Your statement of "Over sized tires often result in poor overall handling". Have you ever heard of NASCAR or the Indy 500??? If you have then you know they don't run "stock" tires. They for sure run larger Over sized tires for the added benefit. So please, do some research, put some larger tires on your ride and don't be so scared to live a little. Or better yet just keep your lil ole tyres and I'll enjoy my over sized "Macho" tires... why??? Because my D*@k is bigger than yours..... bawaaaaaaaaa class dismissed.....

I love my cooper SST Pro's on my Ranger. They have never let me down in mud nor sand. Really great in the rain and best of all I've got over 30k miles on these cooper's and have nearly half of the thread remaining. No increase in road noise either as they get older. However, I do rotate these religiously at 6k miles with out fail. Give them a try, you'll be pleased.

Back on topic...

Will be fitting 35's shortly and while I think it's great that the EB and 10spd combo can mask the downsides of larger tires but it's still a hack job IMO. I'm going with 4.56's which puts me a hair lower than stock to hopefully compensate for not only the height of the tires but also the added weight.

FWIW, Ford is going a similar route but even lower gears for the Bronco Sasquatch package.

Apparently people saying you're good with 3.73 gears with 33-35" tires don't tow at all. Because that will make a big difference... I'm speaking for tuned trucks here. Power and mpgs will dive!
