Both front USB ports are intermittent.

Sometimes I get charging but no CarPlay.
Sometimes I get no charging and no CarPlay.
Sometimes everything works fine.

The other day the left power cig plug went out but now works fine.

I have swapped phones and multiple cables; there is no pattern.

I have a 2019 XLT. My ESP runs out next month and I can’t really bring it in now with this description and it working when I get there.

There's been posts about similar stuff. I sometimes lose my USB connection to an old IPOD touch I use. I usually have to turn it off, walk away with the key fob, and when I come back and start it it will work. Doesn't happen often, but does happen.

I saw another guy had funky stuff with his 12v port, and he eventually found blown fuse, but if yours is coming back on, then it's probably not a fuse.

You may want to purchase a brand-new quality USB data cable. Others on here have done the same as you, only to find that multiple cables were bad.

Did you have any of the cables - hooked up to the Left (Power-Point)?
I suspect one of the cables is shorting out and the system is shutting down the circuit.

The circuit is shutdown (inop) you try swapping cables in an attempt to get it working, and the system is still shutdown - giving you a false T-Shoot, as I am assuming you are doing this without cycling the key and letting the system shutdown / reboot.
The Ranger is VERY FINICKY on the Power Ports, the slightest glitch will trip them off.

For Ref:
The power for the Power-Point is direct from battery source via relay
The USB's are powered via the APIM
So, they are separate power sources

The only tie in - The Battery and Load Shedding, same as System Off - To Save Battery

Mine was doing this too. I tried restarting everything, and sometimes that would solve it. I finally discovered that I had a lot of dust in the lightning port on my iPhone, and that was giving me those symptoms.

One of my USB's sometimes doesn't work in the morning when it's cold outside and the interior of the truck is cold. After driving and warming up the interior, it starts working again. Has anyone else experienced this and might know why it happens?

I would say a bad connection with the cable running between the APIM and the Hub, which is a single plug going to the media hub, the Hub then splits that connection into 2, so the Hub itself could be the issue.
It can also be the USB Cable itself, shrinking the contacts down when cold (less conductive)
Your (Personal) Cable

It's all about - Shrinkage (Seinfeld) - instead of the pool its cold weather, and the contact shrinkage causes poor connection.
So, you could try another cable and pull the hub and remove and clean the single USB cable running to the hub.
You can also pull and clean the power feed connector - just be sure the hub is powered off
Pull fuse #31 - BCM - should kill the power
For this connector - you can also try to spread the contacts, so they are a tighter fit when connected to the Hub.

Well. I switched USB's on probably the last warm day this year and they both worked in both slots so I'm sure that the cold is making the connections not meet until the cab gets warm, So instead of taking the dash apart, I'll just wait until the cab gets warm.

You could possibly try - when they are not working -at first start (cold) shut the truck off,
Get a Hair-Dryer and slightly warm the Hub (pinpoint) the Hub-Only, and see if that makes a dirrerence.

If you keep the charging cords in the truck (now cold) try keeping them inside the house and then take them to the truck and also the device, you are powering (if kept inside the truck)

These 2 actions - could possibly pinpoint the issue.

Other than that - it's pulling the dash apart (partially) for access to the connectors and wire checks.

I'm having a very similar problem with my front usb ports. I constantly listen to a thumb drive it has all my music. Lately it's been not working intermittently. I have done all the normal checks and have replaced the usb but with a new ford part. Right now it won't read or charge, seems to be random, while it's working I'll be listening to music and the source switches back to radio, I also get amessage on my screen from time to time telling me this usb is not compatible please remove it. Yet it plays fine elsewhere. That's why I changed the module. It hasn't come on yet with the new module hoping it will in the morning. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you tried another thumb drive?

You replaced the USB hub in the truck? Are you plugging the USB drive directly into the truck's USB port or using a cable?

Check the connections to the back of the USB hub.

Thumb drive straight to truck port. I know the connections are good on the back of the hub as I replaced it this afternoon made sure they were in correctly.
