I experienced this the other day. Went to the dealership I bought the truck fr and inquired about it. The parts desk guy told me you could only use the points on vehicle service.

Guess I'll have to call another dealership to see if they know. Unless it's a Canada thing that you can't use them for parts ?
Some dealers will have the service dept write a work order for the parts so you can use the points for the parts but it looks like it was service. You may ask their service dept if they will do that for you.

Fords stimulus program! Lol. Be aware that these don’t go on indefinitely as they do expire after a year if I remember right. Still a couple of hundred to burn on service work or parts. Use em or lose em folks!

I was able to use my points towards an ESP warranty from Flood Ford. Their price is already great but getting $210 off made it even better.

I don't think they expire as I still have 2,800 points left after 20 months.

Probably give ya points for a 'new' purchase I'm assuming. I bought my 2019 last year with 7500 miles on it. So not 'new'.
A CPO will get you 22k points I think. Nothing for a regular used one though.

So I called my local dealer Pierre Ford in Seattle, and they were clueless. No one knew what to do with them and said they could only be used for oil changes, but they weren't even sure about that. That's totally not correct from what I'm seeing here. Any advice how to educate the dealer?

How did you organize this? Email to Flood Ford? I am shopping their ESP warranties. This seems like a good way to knock $210 off the $800-900 the plan costs.

Yes, you just place the order online and when you will get a confirmation email. Just respond to the email stating you want to use the points. You can confirm this on the floodfordesp website under the faq. I got the 5yr/100k mile plan with first day rental for just under $700 after my points.

Be careful Dave, the points do expire.
From the Ford website: https://owner.ford.com/fordpass/fordpass-rewards/faq.html?fmccmp=fv-fpr-flmo-fpfaq
Do FordPass Rewards Points expire?
FordPass Rewards Point balances expire and are forfeited when a member has not earned Points, redeemed Points or fulfilled a reward earned through FordPass Rewards for 365 consecutive calendar days. App usage does not qualify as activity needed to keep Points from expiring. To help in these uncertain times, expiration of FordPass Rewards Points has been extended to April 1, 2021, for Points earned prior to April, 2020. Points earned after April 1, 2020 will expire at the 365-day mark with no other activity.

I have not used any points yet so I have until April 1 to use them. I plan to buy service parts and a charger.

Honestly it's probably easier to find a different dealer. It's not like this is something new out, FordPass points have been around for years. If they haven't figured it out by now chances are they never will.

Yeah man, that’s actually exactly what I did. Called another dealer a bit further away and dude knew all about how things worked. Ridiculous first place was so inept.

You need to put the part that you want on a service work order. I got my oil changed and added a dash camera from parts. The cashier didnt like it cause it took alot of extra computer work. I think that I now have a few thousand points left, maybe enough to get a Ford pencil.

I remembered my rewards points were about to expire on April 1st from my Nov 2019 purchase. Wasn't sure what the process for using them was, so stopped by the parts department at McCombs Ford here in San Antonio, TX, and asked. Dennis asked what I wanted to order, put it in the computer, and gave me a ticket to take to the cashier, who used my Reward ponts. Easy peasy!
So far I got a hood bug deflector, cabin filter, and oil filter.
Not sure if that extends my expiration date for the rest, but might order more stuff tomorrow when the bug deflector comes in.

I ended up going to a different dealership and they knew what to do. The first dealer had no clue which was odd as heck. I ended up getting a tailgate extender which will be helpful!
