So waited months to get looked at, and now waiting again till December 13th for a second look. My local dealership is saying ford is denying warranty for a 21' ranger with leaf springs clearly deformed and basically a truck that rides on bumps. I have weight tickets from the uhaul etc. and all well within the max tow weight. How do I even prove that I didn't do dumb shit? kind of seems like I'm just told to kick rocks.

Being in Alaska, I'm guessing your dealers are few and far between, so maybe contact your zone rep? Might also request dealer to copy you on the correspondence it received from Ford denying the claim, so you have some documentation of the issue.

basically, the rep at the dealer is cool, not his decision I'm guessing. But he was like you really don't have much ground to fight it since they can just say your lying and you overloaded the truck of jumped it etc. He even stated 4 rangers have been in this summer for the same failing leaf springs. I would have gotten aftermarket, but shipping is more than Leafs to Fairbanks. There's only two dealers in the state one in Fairbanks and the other in anchorage a nice 6-hour drive away.

honestly, fighting dealers with warranty stuff is worse than having dry sockets from wisdom teeth ive found.

calculating all the time and energy you will spend only the replace with the exact same leaf, I would just spend the money and get icons, deavers, ome. then your done. you can replace money but not your time.

i bet they saw the icon shocks and used it as an excuse.

Yeah I would just tell them to piss off and upgrade the leaf springs. Your ride quality will be so much better.

That's shitty.

You can have my factory leafs. But I doubt you wanna ship them from Denver to Alaska.

If you can't find take offs local from somebody who upgraded going with the dealer might be your cheapest option.

Hi Jake,

Open up a formal Complaint with Ford Customer Care. Insist on talking to a supervisor who can make decisions more than read a computer screen....

Good luck!

Best,
Phil

Not sure how even they are if at all, but the rear left is worse and definitely rides terrible and on the bumps alot.

This picture makes think even more of how it seems it shouldn't be too difficult to install bags where the bump stop is.
Dumb question/suggestion?

I actually think that's a design flaw.
When the parabolic spring is loaded there is nowhere else for the load to be resisted except at that very point where it failed.
The load is concentrated there at the place it failed.

I was just reading about the load lifter 5000. They make one for the ranger and it looks very easy to install. I've never seen or used a bag/leafspring combo but it seems like a good idea.
