Stock top plate with Ford multi-leafs and Rough Country bolts:

I can see how the Deaver top plate is heavier duty but the factory top piece limits fore an aft movement - provided the U bolts are torqued correctly. I see the hole for the spring bolt in yours, but wonder if there is some unintended play there?

Maybe everyone should just inspect their rear suspensions periodically 😉

So I installed the deavers over 2.5 years ago and never retorqued. I'm sure the vibration eventually got a u-bolt loose and voila. I contacted APG and they are sending me out new hardware. Any time I ever needed anything they have always responded quickly.

So APG said that the top plate is just to get the u-bolts lines up on initial install and to torque the crap out of the bolts. I didn't do my maintenance.

If not mistaken Ford does have a little bit of a torque sequence with specifications. I would follow that as it should get you where you need to be

I know I followed it on the Ranger with the Old Man EMU Leafs and never had an issue for the two years I had them on

While waiting for the new u bolts and top plates to arrive I went ahead and loosened up the current u bolts, easily scooted the right side of the rear end back in place, and properly torqued everything down.

Runs like I'm on clouds again. I also ordered some boxed shackles from RHFab so when those come in I can swap the new hardware too.

BACK IN BUSINESS BABY!!
